Can I fit an infant car seat in the back of my 2002 Accord?
The other post on cars got me thinking.....I have a lot of room in my backseat, but since the infant car seats are positioned backwards, they take up a lot of space.
Exacly how much room do you need for one of those? And it's best for them to be in the middle of the backseat, right?

My infant seat went into the back of my saturn.. and I never had a problem. Yes, it is best for the seat to be in the middle....
The best thing to do is to check out your owners manual. See if your car has the Latch system (mine doesn't) and where the company suggests would be the safeist. I would say your car and mine are about the same size!
The infant carseat takes up a little more room than the convertible seat, but you quickly get used to it!! Good Luck!

Teri, I had a 2001 Acura CL, which is pretty much identical to the Accord, and we had to get rid of it because of the carseat. It fit, but with NO room to spare, so while you can do it, it'll be a tight fit.

not good! Was this placed in the middle of the back seat? I have long legs so the driver's seat is just about as far back as it will go.
I love my car - I'd hate to have to get rid of it

Do you have your infant seat yet??? If you dont, you may want to consider the convertible seats... I had an infant seat and convertible seat.. It was much more spacious with the convertible seat.. it went backwards and titled to the proper angle and then as the baby got bigger we straightened it out and placed it foward.... I will see if I can get a pic!!
Here's the info.. Triumph® 5 Convertible Car Seat

Teri- don't panic! I'd have to respectfully disagree w/Jenn's comments. I presently have a Honda Accord, and we used Paul's infant seat and now his toddler seat without any problems....it might not be as 'roomy' as an SUV, but I definitely would NOT say that I have no room to spare. We did lose some roominess when we switched to the toddler seat, but you can still have passengers in the back.
To be fair, I would not suggest a LONG car trip w/back seat passengers, but if you're just going someplace quick, it definitely can be done! Don't fret - we do not plan on investing in a larger vehicle until we need to fit TWO carseats in the back! HTH!

I had a 2 door car with bucket seats in the back, so the carseat was behind the passenger seat. You'll probably have better luck putting the seat in the center. I hadn't thought of that! Can you borrow a friend's seat and try it out??
I understand how you feel about your car... I felt the same way!

Teri, I think you'll be fine. My brother had an infant car seat and a toddler car seat in their Corolla for a few years, before having to upgrade when their 3rd child came along. The Accord is much bigger than the Corolla.

Thanks everyone!
I haven't purchased anything yet (still need to research!)
My car is a 4 door so it's pretty roomy in the back. I'll take a look at the owner's manual and see what they say on sizes....but I hope to be okay

I found BRU will let you 'try' the carseats. Just park in front of the store and they'll help you figure out it it will fit correctly.
This is also a good idea when choosing a stroller. We didn't do this, and I need to take the stroller trays off before it will fit in the trunk of the Jetta. (to be fair, it's a double stroller and we have a CD changer installed in the trunk.)
We did manage 2 infant seats in the back of the Jetta -- there is no room for anyone else, though.

Teri- my Accord is a 4-door sedan, too....just so we're comparing apples to apples.

For a little while, I had to have Lyndsey's infant car seat in the back of my TWO DOOR Honda Civic... It was nearly impossible to get her into it, but somehow we managed. If you have a 4 door, I think you'll be fine.
