George Forman Grill...I got it for my shower and love it! We've been using it every night, definitely healthy and easy to use and clean!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

A friend of mine did the Atkinson diet 4 months before her wedding...it worked..she lost 30 lbs but there's no WAY i could not eat carbohydrates of ANY sort. I'm a cereal addict! And NO alcohol (which for her was quite a feat!). She knew she would start to gain in back during her honeymoon, but she didn't care. I'm joining weight watchers because everyone i know - no matter what age - just swears by it and really believes in it. And it's inexpensive compared to all the other programs out there too!

Just 15 lbs...that's all i need to lose, but it seems like so much!!!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

You might not be going about it the right way. I'm telling you... cut out the carbs. No crackers, pretzels, cookies, cakes, chips, etc. Instead of white bread, eat WHOLE wheat bread (make sure it says whole wheat and not just wheat flour in the ingredients) and eat brown rice instead of white rice.

For snack eat cheddar cheese chunks, celery with real cream cheese, carrot sticks with dip... none of that low fat crap. You eat fat to keep you feeling full.

Eat a lot of meat, fish and poultry and vegetables. As much as you want.

Finally the media is catching up with the facts... low fat is BULL. Doesn't work and it isn't healthy either. Makes people fatter.

I lost 18 pounds this way and now I'm at my ideal weight. Research low carb online and you'll get good ideas for recipes that taste great. I just hope you don't get so skinny that your dress is too big... I'm not kidding... keep this in mind.

Jen :)

Re: Can't Lose weight....

there was a great article in the NYT 7/7 Week in Review, 'What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie'...I can't seem to get a link for it right now, but I have the article (too long to post here) if anyone is interested.

[email protected]

it explains how humans have not evolved enough to be eating the amounts of grains and breads that we do..

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I started seeing a nutritionist who put me on a high protien/low carb diet & I lost 7 pounds in the 1st month. Now if I can keep doing that I'll lose all that I'd like to in no time......LOL I also drink LOTS of Water.

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I hate to not be original but Weight Watchers is the only thing that worked for me. I have struggled for 12 years with yo-yo dieting. Tried Slim Fast, Jenny Craig, diet pills, you name it. I lost weight with them all but gained it all back and then some each time...and each time I ended with a newer high in weight. Now I've been able to slowly lose and actually maintain the loss with WW. Certainly not a quick fix but the best lifestyle. Everything in moderation and the best part...NO GUILT!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I have been on the controversial Atkins Diet for about a month and I have already dropped 14 pounds.. I only have another 5 or so to lose, so now it's coming off slowly. I thought long and hard before starting this diet, but I am SO GLAD i did! I seriously have SO MUCH energy!! I am shrinking by the day, and I get to eat tons of eggs, cheese, fish, poultry, and my favorite...Sugarless/Flourless Cheesecake! It's very easy and believe me IT WORKS. Good luck girls,..just remember, you are as beautiful as you feel!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

just need to add...besides counting 'points' - I think what really took the weight off was the carbs. I know everybody is saying it - but I really think it's true. I find now that I can go to Ben and Jerry's and not put on weight (every once in a while!) and I think it's because I skip the breads and pastas all the time now. I think my body is more balanced. Good luck!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

Kimmie, for breakfast you could bring in a hard boiled egg or some cheese, even I used to wrap up bacon in a paper towel and then just warm it when I got to work.
