Can't Lose weight....

Ok, it seems no matter what i do, i CANNOT get motivated to lose weight. I mean i know the wedding is coming , and i have time to lose it, but i cant get started. I know this sounds nuts, but does anyone have any motivation suggestions? i know the wedding should be motivation, but my mind is like, oh you have time... Sorry if I sound insane! Im just frustrated!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I AM GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING!!!! How insane is that. I have 14 mnths left and started with like 2 years and I think I GAINED a few pounds,

I posted about Weight Watchers a while back. Check out that thread. The ladies were very motivating. I think I'm joining it soon and then turning to the boards for motivation. Good Luck!!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

The first easiest thing to do to get started is to drink a lot of water. Fill up two quarts of water (half gallon) in the morning and make sure its gone by the evening time. (before like 7 o'clock if you don't want to get up to pee). This will make a big difference, in your appetite, your complexion, and it also makes it easier to lose when when you're well hydrated. It seems so simple, but it really works! good luck! Also, my new favorite treat is Edy's whole fruit ice pops. They are sooo good, especially the tangerine and the coconut. It really seems like you're indulging, but only like 120 calories and 2 or 3 gms of fat!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

HI- I have recently lost 25 lbs on WW. It is great. I feel and look so much better. it is not easy- I won't lie! But it is worth it if you can just get started. If you do join, definitely go to the weekly meetings- it helps to keep me motivated. Working out is also key. Some days I feel the same as you- no motivation, but I think so hard about what I want to look like in that dress!
Please feel free to ask any questions.

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I drink tons of water and it does nothing for me. Well maybe it does, but it doesn't take weight off or fill me up. But lots of girls LOVE WW. It might help to get you motivated. Also, don't forget your FH loves you just the way you are.

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I am now up to losing almost 40 pounds! I'm 5' 9 and I was a size 16, now almost an 8. I started in March of this year. you have time. Honestly, it took me forever to start so i totally understand. It helped me immensely that my FI was exercising and dieting to. Another thing... during the week i am very strict on what I eat (but still eat healthy) and i drink ONLY water. On the weekends my FI and I eat whatever we want... whether it's Krispy Kreme or Cheesecake Factory. We are off from the gym on Mon and Tues and also work put Sat and Sun morning to offset the bad days. I work out all weights. Rarely cardio. You can do it!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I drink tons of water as well and also have a gym at work. I have booked out gym-time on my calendar. Find a friend to go with you...it's always easier when you have a buddy!

I don't believe in all this pills and quick diets....eat right and exercise. But, we all know how difficult that is! :)

Good luck!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

i lost 40 pounds all together since November, 8 lbs on my own due to a stomach virus and the other 32 on WW (since january)- i'm 2 weeks into maintenance now and haven't gained anything back (in fact i lost another pound this week). i am the laziest most unmotivated person when it comes to losing weight and honestly, if it weren't for WW i never would have been able to do it. their website is very helpful with low-point recipes and stuff. i highly recommend giving it a try. you won't be successful unless you really truly want to do it but if you are serious about it, you will definitely lose the weight. good luck!

Re: Can't Lose weight....

Think honeymoon!!! Think beach and water and bathing suit (Gulp!!!!). Think about how you want to look in pictures and have memories the rest of your life looking beautiful. Think starting your life together healthy and fit. Most of all, THINK YOU CAN DO IT!!! Set a date and a first step goal and take it one step at a time. i.e. in two months you want to have lost at least X pounds and so on. Thinking MAUI MAUI MAUI for me really helped as I didn't want my big butt to scare people on th beach (LOL). Again... THINK YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Its like he sees someone else or something, lol. You all are very motivating!! I'm so excited now, lol, i hope it lasts. I dont want to join a gym. maybe i will, excersize outside. or i have unopened taebo tapes. Re: Can't Lose weight....

Buy the book Buff Brides-- it has short workouts that you can do at home and is geared towards areas that need to look good in a wedding dress. FH's coworker lost a lot of weight with Slim Fast--I like food too much to just drink shakes

Re: Can't Lose weight....

Stay busy and learn to ride a bike, Calorie in calorie out. Get out and ride a bike all day, next thing you know it is bed time and you have not eaten to much, repeat everyday.

Stop eating fat, steam everything.

Re: Can't Lose weight....

I have lost 40lbs as of last Saturday & I agree completely with the one thing everyone says - drink lots of WATER!! It fills your stomach. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables all day long. Try your best to cut back on the breads. DON'T STARVE YOURSELVES!!! You'll only end up gaining the weight back and then some.
One last thing...don't make the weight loss a goal for your wedding, make it a personal goal for yourself....start your program and be proud of yourself no matter what you loose by your wedding day. If you put yourself under a time frame, that's only 1 more thing for you to stress about.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL & CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE LOST WEIGHT - believe me I understand.

Re: Can't Lose weight....

i agree w/jpsgirl---drink a lot of water!--cut out soda/iced tea and stick to strictly water---you will get used to it!!!....
....eat a lot of fruits and veggies! instead of grabbing potato chips--grab mini carrots!!! i know you like to have chips once in a while---but try to fill up on fruits and veggies---pop corn is a pretty good snack minus the chedder and stuff!!:)
....have grilled chicken salad and fish--healthy foods!! a big salad can fill you up!
....also try walking around the block after dinner or in the morning before work----and slowly increase the amount of exercise each day or week---go to the park and walk around w/your honey!!....
once you get in a routine--it won't be so hard to stick to it--BUT once you stop it is hard to get back into it---
...health food stores are a great place to shop---try dried apricots or pineapples, etc.....
...lose with a friend--set a goal
...one last thing!--once you lose 10 lbs. try to maintain it,,,,,then lose some more and maintain...this will let your body get used to the new weight....i hoped i helped! good luck:)

Re: Weight Watchers brides

KimmieG, Curly, et al-
I joined Weight Watchers through my work a few months ago and lost about 9 lbs. Among other things, there is an EXTREMELY supportive (and fun!) online community...in fact, I don't think you even need to officially 'join' WW to take part. Just sign up on weightwatchers.com and join the Wedding Party board. The women there are great! I've been busy at work, and, thus, off the boards lately, but do let me know if you decide to show up! It would be cool to get a contingency of LIWeddings brides represented!
