can we start a thread.....FMIL

for those of us who are having problems with their FMIL.
Mine admitted that she is only worried about her son. and that she thinks my mother was out to embarass her at MY SHOWER by changing the surprise story on my FMIL (actualyl my FMIL changed the story)

anyone else with FMIL problems? I need to know there are others!

My FMIL told me to DISinvite some of my FAMILY and friends so that she could invite all of her friends. She has also called me about 7 or 8 times to see what color my girls dresses are...and then went out and bought her dress in the same color.

My FMIL told us to change our weding date after everything was booked, so we coould get a room to accommodate HER cousins, (mind you, my cousins had to be cut because we had too many guests)! Then she tels me that she is not going to wear a gown to the wedding - she'll pick up some pastel dress in the after-easter clearance! I told her to feel free to wear whatever she wanted to our formal evening wedding. I'm not letting her know she's getting to me.

My FMIL refuses to cut her list. My parents are paying for the reception and are cutting their cousins children in aeffort to keep the list manageable (right now it is at 290!). She refuses to cut her cousins' children (8 people). She hasn't even offered to pay for them!

My FMIL just drives me crazyabout everything including the grocery store I shop at she thinks it is to expensive, and my FFIL tells me at least once a month he 'can't wait until his 60th birthday because all of this wedding s*!t will be over.' Or 'wouldn't it be a shame if the shop where your dress is went up in flames'

And then they wonder why I don't want to go the family dinners once a week!

After telling her I did NOT want to do the garter toss, she gives me garters as a present. Not one but TWO, one to throw and one to keep!

Mine told me to send out DOUBLE the number of invites for the amount of people we wanted to come to our wedding because of the day we chose. She said that so many people aren't going to be able to come because my wedding is the Friday after Thanksgiving. She said the Saturday would be better, but there was no offer to contribute the extra funds needed for a Saturday night wedding!!!

I think it is normal for everyone to have problems with FMILs. My FH's mom passed away when he was 15, so I can't really relate.

Oooh that sounds like my FMIL. I told her that I am going to try to make my Unity Candle (really just because I enjoy doing crafty things & have said that if I don't like the way it comes out I will buy one - no biggie). She said that if she sees one she likes she will buy it for me anyway.
Ooookay, thanx.

Ooooh, I thought of another good one. Hehe....

My mom was talking to her and she said to my mom 'Is Lorena EVER going to get a wedding dress?' My mom was so confused...it's not like I'm running out of time...my wedding is 13 months away (14 mths at the time she said it).

Don't even get me started on my FMIL. We are having issues b/c I am Jewish and they are Catholic. She tried to make me get married in the Church. There is so much more to it. Argh!

Re: can we start a thread.....FMIL

my fmil has been great so far with the wedding planning... she keeps telling people how ontop of the planning i am, and how i research everything and get things done in advance....

my mother however anytime i tell her a wedding idea, and plan to buy that thing soon she says 'its too early now, there is plenty of time still'.....
i dont like doing things last minute..

Re: can we start a thread.....FMIL

My FMIL forgot to call my FH for his birthday and used some lame excuse about it, she refuses to even acknowledge our wedding and never asks us anything about it, and she is so rude that she'll probally show up late for it, that is if her new husband feels like going at all

Re: can we start a thread.....FMIL

thanks girls
this does make me feel better. i am sorry we are all having these problems though.
here is another one by my FMIL
the RD is not a concern to my FH and myself. it is there party....we need not know where she is looking, what time etc....mind you they are from out of town so they do not know the area

my FMIL RSVPed to my mother for the shower for HER guests like this, 'aunt suzie...um put her as a yes.....aunt mary.....um...um...no, sally, yes, i think she will come.
okay and my mom was paying for the shower PER HEAD...my FMIL never offered t ocontribute and then she had the nerve to say to my FH that she could have thrown her own shower!!!! so why didn't you?????????
