Today at work this lady told me she went to a wedding at Fox Hollow (she said it was beautiful ) and she said that she decided to take her daughter instead of her husband b/c he didnt really feel like going.
What would you do if a 3 year old showed up in place of her father? I think it's kinda rude to bring a child you dont know if they want children at the wedding.

I am the only one who diagrees. I don't see it as it being a big deal. Do you think it stopped the bride from having the time of her life...I seriously doubt it!!!! I do agree that it was rude, if she didn't ask.
she didn't ask b/c I asked her if she called the bride and she said 'No my husband decided that morning!'

My only worry would be that it would cause problems if the bride told other guests, esp. family, to make arrangements for childcare for their children and then a guest came with a young child.

I would not be happy at all. Some caterers do not charge for children under 5. Some charge half price for children under 10 or 12. But depending on the season, a price per head for an adult can be a lot of money that when after a final headcount is given, cannot be changed. It is an expense to the hosts of the wedding. I would much rather see that plate of food go to a vendor than to a three year old who would probably spit out chilean sea bass or chicken cordon bleu. JMO. There is no way a three year old would have the appetite of an adult and for sure, food would be wasted. There are plenty of opportunities for life experiences.
I am quite sure the Mother was paying for both plates anyway. What the F*ck is the big deal????? I hope your day goes smooth sailing b/c something like this is mad petty!
Every wedding is different, some people want children at their wedding, others don't. I know I'm not having children because the numbers would get out of control. If i told my family that children were not invited and someone took it upon themselves to bring their young daughter and not their husband i would be annoyed! Here I am telling my FAMILY that I don't want children and a friend shows up with her 3 yr old. Everyone is their own feelings towards the topic dont bash someones feelings.
Also, don't say that the mother prob. covered both plates since she responded 2 people. Some people don't think like that, sad but true
