Can you negotiate the price of your wedding dress???
Hi Ladies,
Another quick question for everyone....Can you try to negotiate down the price of a wedding dress?? Just curious what others have done. Thanks!!!

Yes and you should! Bridal stores are notorious for inflating the prices of their dresses. Why do you think that they don't allow you to take pictures? If you can find out the style number and designer I'd recommend getting a quote on Netbride.com. They way you have something in writing to prove that you got a lower price. Or you could just lie and tell the sales person that you saw the same dress for $200 less somewhere else. I guarantee you that they will work with you.

They will normally take at least 10%, just for asking!

Yeah, it really helps if you know of someplace that has a lower price…lots of places will price match. Good luck!

I would imagine this would not work at a place like David's Bridal, but at smaller shops, I would definitely try it!

I got my dress price matched, because I wanted the seamstress at a particular store to do a certain alteration that she'd done for someone else. You just have to ask!

You can almost always negotiate anything that has to do with your wedding. Its just the nature of the business....they all want YOUR business!
It definitely helps to have a lower price quote from somewhere else. If not, tell them what you were looking to spend and act like youre gonna walk out and they'll usually negotiate.
My dress retails for $700 more than what I paid! No joke, it can be done.

i totally lucked out with an amazing bridal shop....they made a gaurantee to beat any cheaper price i brought them from another store ...and they kept their word! (fantasia bridal by the way...they're wonderful!)

Absolutely, I negoiated big time with the wedding salon of manhasset. They knew I loved the dress, but was willing to walk b/c of the price. They decided to give me the trunk show discount (which was 2 weeks before I was there) of 10%. I still thought it was too much so they gave me another 5% and took $`100 off the alterations fee. All in all I saved about $700. Good luck!

some places won't budge, but there are plenty of places that not only negotiate but will meet or beat any price you bring them from another store.
Definitely shop around for a great price before just handing over the cash
