You got your first period?

I can! I can go back to that exact moment in time! It was a saturday morning and I had a softball try out and I had to go to the eye doctor where I got my 'super cool' PURPLE BIFOCALS!

yes, I remember. It was with my older sisters and we were watching tv, and I went to the bathroom, and said Im blleeding down there. They laughed at me and said you are finally a woman

7th grade...i had just started to exercise to this aerobics video and felt something and went to the bathroom. i showed my mom and started to cry. i didn't want to get it at 13...i wanted to be older b/c my mom was 16 (she was a huge athlete) and i thought i would get it then too!

Actually, I was never even taught the real names of my privates - only when I went to school did I learn that it was a 'vagina', not a 'goochie'.

omg, yes. i remember the 5th grade talk in school and the teacher asking what 'it' was called and i raised my hand and thank goodness she picked on someone else!!!!!!! w t f was a vagina???
it's funny b/c my students are all in 5th grade and letters went out for a workshop for moms and daughters on 'the talk' and the boys kept coming up to me asking where their notices were. too cute!

January of 85, I was nine years old. It was a Saturday morning and I was going to take a bath and my mom saw the stain on my underwear. I was in denial, but my mom was delighted!! She told my dad and called my grandmothers. She said in some cultures this was a good thing. A rite of passage to be celebrated. Ugh. I was the only one in my grade who had it.

I was 14 and was coming home from a softball game. It was 2 days before we went away on vacation, needless to say I didnt have fun on that vacation.

Summer of fourth grade, I was noticing this 'stuff' in my undies and kept hiding them from my Mom (thinking that I wasn't wiping so good or something). After like two days, my Dad asked me if I wanted to go to Newbridge Pool and I was all psyched to go. I ran into the bathroom and there was MORE stuff than I had ever seen. No hiding this one! My Mom and Sister were pulling out of the driveway in her 77' blue Nova when I went screaming down the block after them, hysterically crying. 'Mommmmm, you have to help!!!'. She jammed on the breaks, jumps out of the car and asked me what happened. 'There's stuff Mom, I don't know what it is...'. I knew about periods but I didn't put two and two together because I was maybe nine?

We went back to the house, my sister laughed. They gave me the old standby, Stayfree and told me to lie down in the A/C with some Coke. They came back with McK'Dees and some licorice. I was all happy and called my friends who were mad impressed that I was now a 'woman'

I was in 5th grade, it was the Saturday after my 11th birthday. I was home and we were suppossed to go to the mall with my mom and sister and friend to spend my birthday money. I wanted to get the second hole pierced in my ear but my mom kept saying no. Right before we were leaving I went to the bathroom and saw it. I told my mom she was so happy and she was crying. Then she called my grandma to tell her Later on we went to theh mall and she let me get my 2nd hole

I was home. It was the summer between 6th and 7th grade I think I was 11 or 12. My mom told my dad ( and everyone else in the world) and my dad didnt look at me for a week!!!! He stayed away from me like I had a disease!!

BUT I have a funny story of when my mom first got hers. She was 10 or 11 and it was right after lunch. She didn't even know what a period was since no one ever told her. She started crying hysterically on the bathroom floor b/c she thought someone put glass in her lunch and she was bleeding to death

Wow, I was definitely a late starter. I remember it was a school day (I was a freshman)& I just got home and was so embarrassed to even tell my mom. I remember I missed school the next day.

I've got you beat. I was a sophomore in HS and waiting for it. There was only one other girl in the entire grade who hadn't gotten her pd, and she got it a few months before me, so I was the only one left. I got it overnight when I was sleeping. I woke up to do my morning pee and bingo -- it was there (TMI, what an image, sorry!)

I was probably the latest out of all of you. I got mine in the 10th grade. I remember our family was going on a vacation to Pennsylvania and my mother announced it to my father. He was like...uh...congratulations.

i got mine in 10th grade too! I think it was May because we were getting out class rings the next day.
i was home home when it happened.....and it gave me a fever so i got to stay home from school....

summer between 6th and 7th grade

I was about to go swimming with my MALE friend and went to the bathroom before (at my house) to find a surprise...my period...sooooo I literally remained in the bathroom for like a half hour just sitting there not knowing what to do

my mom was worried, asked what happened and explained without really explaining

she was soooooooo excited
i was mortified and my mom told my friend i couldnt swim that day

it was the summer of the end of 5th grade starting into sixth. my grandmother took me down to her house in florida for the months of june, july, and august. i had the 'talk' with my mom and said when it happens dont get scared just tell me. well i got it 2 weeks before i left florida to go back to ny. i woke up and there it was (sorry if to much info). i was so afraid to tell my grandmother.

She slapped my face and then handed me the really old books from KOTEX with the iris on the front that said 'what every woman should know' and then said 'go talk to your sister. Why the face slap? Hell if I know, I think it may have been to say 'OK you are a woman now, don't have sex or I'll beat you.'

Yep on vacation at Sea Isle City (Jersey Shore) on my 13th Birthday evening...had to get Mom in from hanging out on the deck with the adults and she wouldn't understand why I couldn't just talk to her out there!! Then she went back and told everyone!!
