Meaning: Do I def HAVE to invite that person who received the save the date?? Just curious

Techincally yes; but it's not always that straight forward.
my thought is you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. Yes it's common etiquite that if you send someone a save the date you send them an invite; but if you're sending your std's out far in advance and no longer speak/are close with that person; then i think there's no reason to invite them.

ita. we invited *almost* everyone that got STD...the exception was that a couple was going thru divorce, so we didnt invite one side of the pair

Youre not expected to invite someone you no longer speak to, had a falling out with, is no longer in a relationship etc.
If you decided to invite more than you originally did and thats why you dont want to thats not right and another story.

Depends....if there is some sort of falling out then you def can retract it....otherwise you should invite the person/couple.

It depends why..If there was a major fraction (divorce, permanent falling out) fine, don't invite..But if it is to keep number down or cost etc. I would say you would need to invite them..You asked them to SAVE THE DATE and since you did, it would be rude. Especially if they could have made other plans for the day they are saving... People who have a falling out and stuff most probably won't expect and invite anyway...

i think your supposed to, but if theres a good reason behind it, i dont see why you would have to waste an invitation on them.
i got a STD for a wedding and was never invited, happened to my other friend, for the same wedding... she did a lot of disinviting!!

there is now LAW saying you have to... we're retracting a FEW invites... .one friend hasn't come out of hiding in a year (he literally sits in his house by himself except to go to work and barely speaks to anyone).. I have another friend that I haven't heard from in MONTHS (she and her fiance broke up... she moved and cut ties with everyone) I've tried reaching out to her.. and she doesn't respond. um.. there are some others, but I won't post on here, because of a potential stalker... but I'll say this, why would I want someone at my wedding that I THOUGHT was a friend, but turned out to not be... I don't care about etiquette enough to invite that person.

You technically are supposed to, but I've had a person retract the STD on me. It was a friend's sister. She got into a huge fight with her family b4 her wedding and didn't invite any of her family not even her mother, so obviously since i was friends with her brother(who wasn't invited) I sure wasnt getting an invite. I wasn;t too upset about it. I guess it depends on the situation and how close your are with them

Well I think it depends on the situation. I sent a girl a STD and she was my BM but we had a H U G E fight and she is no longer a BM or a friend so obviously I will not be inviting her.

you can always take it back I invited a couple of people to my e-party who neither acknowledged the invite nor bothered to show up..needless to say they're no longer invited to the wedding. Also gave STDs to some work folk who have since left and did not stay in contact. Not to mention the people who get distant once they find out ur engaged. I think Save The Dates should work the same.
