Canceling a vendor, refund? penalties? Please help!

I know in Suffolk county, if you cancel your reception hall with more than 6 months' notice, you are only supposed to lose $100 of your deposit.

Does anyone know if this is true with all vendors, photog, florist, band/DJ?? Or does each vendor determine their own refund policy?

The refund policy for each vendor should be in the contract you signed. Suffolk County law only applies to catering halls.

OK, thanks. The contract only describes cancellation with LESS THAN 6 months, I guess we should have them write in their policy for more than 6 months. I mean we're not planning to cancel, but you never know, thngs happen.

I think if you cancel, you lose your deposit with most vendors.

the reason is they could have booked another wedding on your day if they weren't holding yours.
