Re: cancellation of halls.
if the date is more than 6 months out, the hall must return the deposits within 30 days of being notified of the cancellation

what are the laws for nassau county?
you don't get your money back, and unless they book another wedding for your date then you might actually end up owing the RH money for the loss they are taking if you cancel the wedding.
There should be a cancellation policy on your contract

Re: cancellation of halls.
read your contract and then call the original RH and ask them. it seems like the easiest thing to do.

if you do it 6 months before the wedding you get all your money back except for $100 which is not a big deal

Re: cancellation of halls.
write them a letter stating tha tyou are canceling. and make sure it's registered mail and they have to sign for it...to make sure they got it. and request your money back.

Re: cancellation of halls.
it goes by what it states on your signed contract.....usually if they rebook the date you get the deposit back and if they do not rebook the date then you are out the money

okay, we may have to cancel our original RH and go for a different hall b/c of our guestlist.
now we already paid just $500, do we take that as a loss? or what?
i read the laws but i don't understand the terminology because i'm stupid. lol
I actually just had to do this this past weekend and my old RH was really great about it and returned the money they should be accomodating...
