cancellations!

CAN YOU IMAGINE! 3 DAYS TO GO! We got 3 cancellations on Monday and 5!!!! Yesterday! I am SO ****ed!!!! The first 3 were valid. One guy is in a very popular band and has to play - one guy has to go to rehab (his company is forcing him) - but the 5 yesterday were all from the same leg of the family and 'something came up' - I mean I hope nobody is sick or something....I am just so fed up. We paid for them already!

That stinks!! Call Oheka and see what they can do for you...my reception site allowed me until Thursday before the wedding to make headcount changes. Even if Oheka doesnt, maybe they will throw in some extra like an ice sculpture or something. No harm in asking.

this happened to me 5 people cancelled the night before!!!- what we did was invited some people that werent orginally invited to the recep and were coming to the church to just come to the reception- just so you dont have empty seats. I hate the way that looks.

Jenny, I also got married at Oheka and was 5 short of the minimum b/c of last minute cancellations. They were really nice about it and gave us a cigar bar and cordials.

Jenny- I feel your pain. The week of my wedding we had five people call in one day to cancel and then the next day someone else called. We did have two couples come last minute that werent going to come. When did you have to have your head count in? Can you call them to speak to them? I know how rude it is, believe me!!! Hang in there Jenny as I know how it is the last week especially with people calling like this. It will all be ok.

This happened to us as well. I think we had about 8 cancelations just 3 days before and my cousin told me she had 10! I would talk to your reception place and see if there is anything they can do for you.

its amazing the things people do. i was so oblivious to all this sort of stuff before we got engaged, and it showed me that i had a lot to learn about people. i am sure there are some exceptions that can't be helped, but there are always those people who are just inconsiderate and selfish.

If Oheka won't do anything for you, is there anyone you can substitute last minute? I know it is rude to ask someone to come right before the wedding but my cousin cancelled after we got the final headcount so I asked the guy my sister was dating if he wanted to come (she was already bringing her friend as her guest).
Hey, look at it this way . . . At least they called! I had 10 no-shows the day of and only one couple called us to apoligize!

I'm sorry to hear this!!! Try and call Oheka, it is possible they can do something for you!!! Asking someone last minute isn't too bad of an idea if they can't. Good luck! I'm sure everything will work out!

That's soooo annoying! If they have good excuses - then fine! We had quite a few cancellations days before the wedding, what ****ed me off more were the people who didn't show the day of! What nerve

We had 13 people not show! One couple called, DH's uncle (old) wasn't feeling well when he was leaving the church(so no aunt either) and my niece got sick in the car on the was to the reception.
Still haven't heard from any of the reast of them! That's 8 people who couldn't even sent a card!! Not to mention a check! I know that sounds bad but we're out $1300 and I'm still Mad!

Debbus and Februarybride, believe me I understand. We did have people calling the week of with excuses I could understand, but other excuses were ridiculous. Like my friend of 15 years that lives in North Carlina and called the tuesday before and said she didnt feel well. You know how you will feel four days before my wedding? I could of predicted that one though. You really see how selfish people are. People were calling and leaving messages to just take them off the list. What the f---??? It was three days before my wedding and we had to have the count in two weeks before our day! I was able to fill four plates though so it wasnt that bad Good luck

I had someone call me a week before to tell me she couldn't find a sitter and won't be able to come.She said she wanted to tell us before we put in our final headcount. I said that we already gave in the headcount (she sent back response that she would attend). She said,'You gave in your headcount already.' Already? Hello, it was a week before!!!

The Nerve of people. They treat it as if you were just throwing a few shrimp on the Bar-B (sp for BBQ abbreviation?) and it is no big deal.

I just had a friend e-mail to ask if she could bring some stray dog she met at the bar last weekend!
But he is a really nice guy.......(so she says)

I had a distant relative call and ask if he could bring his girlfriend and oh, she has a 3 year old they'd also like to bring.

Bad enough my friends want to bring randoms that they know for about 10 minutes. But I would have to draw the line at children! (although some of these guys may be worse than children)
