cancelled wedding

cancelled wedding

I have been on this bored for awhile now, but have been more of a reader than a poster. You all always have great advice and I am hoping someone has some for me right now. My June 7, 2003 wedding has been called off tonight. I have so many things going through my mind right now I don't know where to begin. I did a search and found the proper way to notify everyone, but I am not sure what I do with the gifts I recieved at my Bridal shower. I assume I give them back...but how? It's so humilating.

I'm sorry that one of my few posts had to be such a depressing one...but I don't even know where to begin right now.

Thanks so much, any advice is appreciated.

I really can't help you with what to do, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry and I hope everything works out for you.

Re: cancelled wedding

I am sorry to hear this. FM me if you need to talk.

You could have a family member or friend return the gifts you received at the shower. I don't think you need to be the one going around doing this- people will understand.

Take care.

If you can't handle it, your mom/sister/moh can take care of that stuff for you. I'm so sorry to hear that the wedding has been called off - just be strong and everything will be ok

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I do not know that correct procedure for returning gifts. I just wanted to pass on hugs to you

Re: cancelled wedding

I am so sorry! I am sure the last thing you should worry about are the gifts. I don't have enough information. But maybe your mother could handle your families gifts and also, have a family member or friend go to your ex's home to deliver the gifts which were given by his family.

Re: cancelled wedding

You shouldn't worry about that right now...I'm sure your friends and family won't be thinking about those presents...they'll be more concerned about your welfare. If you need anything, FM me. I wish I could be of more help. Take care...

Thank you all, your words are comforting. You are right, I am sure my sister and bm's will help me. I am just overwhelmed and getting ahead of myself. I appreciate all your responses. Especially that no one even knows me on this bored. You are all so nice.

I'm so sorry I agree with the girls, don't worry about that right now. Take care of yourself first. When you are ready, I would have my mom, friends, etc. take care of giving the gifts back. Good Luck and take care

Re: cancelled wedding

I am sorry to hear the news.

I just wanted to say that if any of my friends called off their wedding I would not want the gifts back.

I mean really what would I do with it.

Take care of YOU right now. The gifts are the least to your true friends.

Re: cancelled wedding

I was engaged when I was younger & decided not to get married about 10 weeks before the wedding. The invites were just about to go out. I hadn't had my shower yet but I had received some gifts that I registered for from relatives. Everything was unopened because I was living w/my parents. I wrote a note to each person that had sent a gift, thanking them & giving a short explaination & my Mom returned them to everyone. My parents called everyone except close relatives & friends as well. I called them myself. I also called some of my Fi's family because I was afraid he'd make me out to be evil.
It was a very sad time in my life & I felt terrible that my parents had to tell everyone, but shorlty after I got over that i was so relieved that I didn't marry the wrong person. Nobody in my family ever brought it up again.
Stay strong, this must be a hard time for you. You'll get throught it.

I'm really sorry to hear about your wedding. Don't worry about the gifts right now, no one will be concerned with that. They'll be more concerned about you.

Richsbride-Thank you. It definetley helps to hear someone else went through a similiar situation and survived it. My entire future has just been changed and its very unsettling to say the least. I have so many emotions about it. But reading your post was encouraging for me, and I'm sure I will look back one day and know this was for the best...just as you have. Thanks again!

Like everyone has told me so it must be true, you will get over this and be better off. I just called off my wedding a few days ago and even though I am upset b/c it was what I wanted, he isn't changing and I am only going to regret it down the road. I wish you the best of luck and am here for you if yoiu need to talk. Good luck.
