I am making my own candle centerpieces -- they are vases with coffee beans in them with a pillar, surrounded by orange votive holders and some fake leaves. The orange votive holders I would like back, but the vases with the candle in them, I don't really want (no need for 13 vases!). I am not a big fan of those 'whoever's birthday is closest to today's date, you get to take the centerpiece!' games. Anyone know of a way to tell people they can take the vase without playing some silly game?

Re: Candle Centerpieces - How to give out to guests?
I do have to email my band, I can ask them I guess. Or I could just tell people as they are saying goodbye? As in 'hope you had a nice time - please, take a centerpiece!' ??? I don't want them (I'd like one to keep) and I would hate to throw them all out. I guess I could give them out after the wedding.

Re: Candle Centerpieces - How to give out to guests?
I planned that the person at each table who knew the bride or the groom the longest would take the centerpiece, but by the end of the evening I was having too much fun dancing to worry about it. As guests started to leave some asked my mom and MIL if they could take the centerpieces, others I specifically asked them to take them. Even without it going as I planned, there was still a centerpiece for all the local folks that were most important to me and my DH to get to take one home.

Thanks for this info! Maybe I shouldn't worry about it at all. I just don't want them boxed up and put in my car!!!! I want to bring home as little as possible.

At my friends wedding a few weeks ago, the DJ did the 'pass the dollar' around the table and they played music and when they stopped, the person with the dollar was the bartender. Then, the next time they played the music and passed the dollar, the person with the dollar got the centerpiece.
