I'm starting to get sooo down. Every place we look at has at least one thing about it that I don't like at all. I feel like we'll never find the perfect place.:(

You will find it-dont worry. I thought somewhere else was 'The Place' and it wasnt for me-Chateau Briand was THE PLACE and we knew it when we walked in. Trust your instinct
I agree with July06Bride-Tell us where you went, or the things you didnt like-we may be able to help you or give you ideas!!

Re: can't find 'the place'
the main issue i have is the carpet at a lot of places. I will love the place and I won't be able to get over the carpet, or the location. I live in suffolk and some of the places I like r around my house so I've been to sweet 16s there and other parties. It's so hard!! Thanks guys for the hope

EnK.. I feel the same way about carpet.. lol... for some reason i was hung up on the carpeting in some places... That is why i picked a place that had all wood floors in the ballroom.. i was much happier... You'll find your place... just keep looking.. it takes some time.

Re: can't find 'the place'
oh ladies, please dont get hung up on the carpet!!!
I will tell you this honestly-I know how you feel, alot of the places I hated the carpet...but I have been to 3 weddings in the past 3 months and to be quite honest couldnt even tell you what color or design the carpet was-and even if they had carpet. It is going to be dark and no one is going to notice it.
Hope that helps-i do hate the carpet in my hall too-but it was too much of a hang up for me

are you me?!?!
I've looked at 12 halls. I only 'liked' one of them, but it's over an hour from most of my guests, and with a fall/winter wedding, that may end up being a problem.
I don't know what to do anymore - I'm so frustrated.

I know!! We looked at 20!! None of them gave me that 'wow this is it' feeling. Spending the money it will cost I want that feeling!!!

Re: can't find 'the place'
Dont start to get all hung up over the little details. This is your wedding day. Who cares if the carpet is alittle not your taste. Theres gonna be something about EVERYWHERE that has something you dont like. Let it go and HAVE FUN

Re: can't find 'the place'
I feel lucky. I only went to 3 places before finding my hall.
Don't worry. You still have time. Halls do renovate so what you don't like now may be gone next year.

Re: can't find 'the place'
I'm having issues with the carpeting and chairs!!!! Some of the carpeting is so psychodelic, it gets me nauseus!!! I hate some of the chairs and really can't imagine myself having to spend additional $$ to slip-cover the chairs!!!

Re: can't find 'the place'
There are certain places, like the Bourne Mansion for one, that does not have any carpeting in the main ballroom.
I know it's frustrating, but keep looking and trust you will find it. I LOVE my hall and knew it was 'the one' but there are one or two things about it that I don't like, but that didn't deter me from booking it.
Good luck!

Re: can't find 'the place'
What are your criteria? price, locaton? # of guests? maybe we can help you.
I'v been to a lot of weddings recently, and I did not noice the carpet and one of them. honestly. I can't even tell you if they had carpet, or what the chairs looked like, or the linens or tableware. I can tell you what the food was like, or the flowers, or how beautiful the bride looked and if the band was good or sucked or whatever...but carpet, linens, whatever...I'm getting married, so you now I'm looking for details, and I NEVER notice that stuff. it's the kindof thing you only notice if you're looking at a hall

Re: can't find 'the place'
I totally agree with the carpet. I was hell bent on getting married in a place with all hard wood floors. Trouble is, most of those places are the higher end, more expensive places. You should try The Deseversky Center, The Bourne Mansion, or the Old Field CLub. The Old Field Club was beautiful, but I was hung up about there being just one women's bathroom that the bride and the guests had to share. I know someone who had a wedding there and said that it was so great and they didn't even think about the bathroom situation as a negative. (To each his own.) You really have to check these places out yourself. I'm getting married at the Bourne Mansion and after i saw it, I could just see myself dancing in that ballroom and I knew it was the place. I'm sure you'll get that feeling with a place too. Good Luck.

Re: can't find 'the place'
How expensive is the bourne mansion and deseversky center? Hard wood floor sounds good to me. Im having about 150 people and I don't want to spend much more than 120-130pp. I know most people dont notice the carpet, but if it bothers me now, I don't want the chance of being bothered by it on my wedding day ya know?
