I called my car insurance company last month to see if my car insurance was going to go down this year. My new year starts at the end of this month. I was rear ended in Sept 2000 and my insurance went up, even though it wasnt my fault. Well my policy is supposed to be clear now. Yesterday, in the mail I get a policy statement about how much my insurance is going to cost me this year, and I see it went up $500.
I don't understand this. Why would the woman tell me that it is going down, when they were going to raise it? Now I have to go through all the hassle of calling them, and they are such a pain to deal with.
If I cant get a good deal from them, what other insurance companies do you recommend dealing with? Right now I have Travellers insurance...full coverage. Thanks, Scott

Re: car Insurance
I have Traveller's also and they charge me an insane amount (never put a claim in and no accidents or a/t bad on my record) and I could never figure out why. Then they increased the amount. So i had enough and called my broker and she got me the same coverage for about 1200 less. You can also try AllState they quoted me a price of 1400 less than Traveller's. Good luck!

Re: car Insurance
Gieco wanted $2400 more than Travellers wanted...I almost hit the floor when I saw that. I deal with a broker in Valley Stream...I will be calling her after 9am today.
So you recommend Geico, Allstate...Who else?

Geico is the best

Re: car Insurance
We use Allstate. My FIL just switched to them too from Traveller's because it was a much better rate. Plus he got a multi policy discount since he switched his home owner's insurance to Allstate as well.
Allstate also has our Renter's insurance policy, so we get a multi-policy discount as well.

Re: car Insurance
I have had Allstate and I liked them, but Geico was a bit lower so I switched.
Did you try State Farm? I think they have an office on Sunrise Hwy in RVC.

Re: car Insurance
No I havent. I got 2 quotes on line. 1 from Gieco for $1738 a year with 100,000/300,000 and one from All State for $2100 a year.
I also called my broker and she said she was going to pull my file and call me back. If she cannot give me a better deal, I may go with Gieco for car insurance.
I am going to look into GMAC, and State Farm first though. Scott

Re: car Insurance
I have Geico. I think mine is about $1600 a year...I also took the defensive driving course to bring it down (I think it brought it down about $100 or so, definitely worth it though the class was PAINFULLY BORING!)...

Re: car Insurance
I just switched from Progressive to Allstate and I saved A LOT of money.... it was really insane!! When I called Geico for a quote, they were actually higher than Progressive. You really need to shop around for the best rate.
When Allstate quoted me such a difference in price... I felt like I stole something... that's how good it is.

Re: car Insurance
Amica 800-895-9081
Travelers was who Jim WAS with after his accident and stolen car. They KILLED him in insurance. Then his stupid broker through him into the assigned risk pool. NASTY over $6k in insurance yearly.
Amica only waits 3 years to clear your record. You can ask for Carol or anyone in the New account unit.
Im actually on the phone with them now.. so very nice!

Never heard of Amica. How long have they been around?
I am still waiting for my broker to call me back. I hate waiting. It has been 2 hours already...I know they forgot. They always forget. I am going to call them after my 2 mile walk at lunch.

Since 1907.
You haven't heard of them because they were originally only done by word of mouth. Personal referrals. To keep up with other companies they started to advertise.
Their website is: www.amica.com
Usually there is necessary. They also a mutual company which means that they can offer dividend returns on your premium.
Kinda of like USAA (which only allows Military folks)
ETA: To say theres no DEPOSIT necessary.. I forgot to stick that in up were it says Usually there is necessary.
