Car insurance question

Does anyone know if you can have separate policies when you are married for car insurance. My DH about 3 years ago got a ticket for going through a red light and now the insurance company wants me to pay for his driving by increasing my insurance 800 a year. Can I get my own policy until his record is cleared in 39 months? Anyone with info thanks in advance!!!

Re: Car insurance question

If he is ever going to drive you car, you can not have separate policies -- you'd be in big, big trouble if he was driving your car and got in an accident. While you would be covered if you lent a car to a friend, since he lives with you I believe you are obligated to list him on your policy as a secondary driver... :o(

Re: Car insurance question

I live with Ronnie for 3 yrs and I don't have him listed as a driver on my policy ......

He got his license suspended 2 yrs ago when he was on his Bike didn't want to pull over on the highway when he was doing 137 and he got chased by the cops..

Long story short...

DON'T list him.

Re: Car insurance question

I have brian on my policy and we have no problems. He had a huge issue with his license and it was suspended and he got busted when driving in brooklyn, was processed throguh the system and wound up paying a 50 dollar fine, and its listed as a driving infraction. all his tickets have ben paid and everything is up to date, and we have no problems

Re: Car insurance question

Frank's insurance on his own was 3800.00 a year! when i put him on my insurance (with all his tickets and accidents (he even hit a fire truck) it was only 700.00 more so my insurance is only like 2000.00 (and this year its even cheaper)
I have allstate, if you want the number of my broker ill give it to you...hes a nice guy and works with you...

Re: Car insurance question

I was told that my husband had to be listed as a driver on my insurance and me on his as well. You can't be all on one policy though since your titles are in your own names and they should all have one name on the title and the policies. At least this is what I think.
