Card Box?

Card Box?

I'm trying to decide which would be better. To make a card box or to buy one. I love the idea of making one! What do you all think?

well thats really up to you. If you think you can make one and would rather do it yourself then go for it. But if you rather not do it and just want to buy one then go for that. You have to be the one making it so go with your gut

I would like to make it. I am gonna see what the cost is VS buying on it may be cheaper to just buy one! I am weighing in on my options!

it depends on the type of cardbox you want. If you want the stacked boxes look then those can cost a bit more and can cost less to make your own.

If its more simple then that wont cost much to buy

I was in my shoe store today and I saw one there. They have one to rent. It's $50 to rent and a security deposit of $150!!! That's ridiculous!!!

that is ridiculous

well i bought mine, i saw a vendor and loved the cardboxes they did so went with that.

But alot of girls on here have made their own and did a great job.

Some do the stacked boxes, also the photocube cardbox is real cute too

I think it's definitely going to cost you less to make one if you're looking for something elaborate. If you're really into the idea of making one then go for it! I'm sure it'll come out great.

I made a custom card box (check my album) and it cost less than $40. Either way you cant go wrong.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics yet but I got all my materials at Jo-Ann crafts - the paper mache hat boxes (they have all different shapes), the ivory silk, the ribbon, the glue - everything!

well i must say I decided to make my own and while I know it will be just the way I want, it has turned into quite a project because I picked a satin-like material and it is VERY flimsy to work with. But it has been fun but took longer than I thought to make it.

Maybe you can try like fancy wrapping paper to wrap the boxes and then decorate it to fancy it up??

I will post pics soon so you can see.

I would love to see!!! I am pretty excited that I get to make it! Me, my mom, and sister are gonna make it! I know it's going to be quite a project too..I want the silk and lace around it and I want to put my colors into it too! I have to check some craft stores to find the boxes first!

haha yeah... my mom just got some cardboard boxes at her job. I got the fabric at Joann's less than $30. There is a store I heard about in Bellmore called Frills and Things that I am going to check out next week I'll let you know haha.

I am making it with my Mom too! We've had a few laughs for sure

I gave this job to my mom and my aunt. We went to a huge sale at Michaels and got the boxes (4 for $25). If the whole project is more that $75 I'll be shocked. They are all excited to have a project so it worked out.

Depending on your budget and what you want it to look like. Sometimes when its all said and done it's actually cheaper to buy one ready made than to buy all the supplies, not to mention all the time and effort. Believe me I'm all for DIY but in my case the cardbox was a better deal to buy ready made.
