Care to share anything UN-TRADITIONAL?

I have a man of honor (my best friend) instead of a maid or matron of honor.

I've caught a little flack for it, for being un-traditional, but I fell I made the best possible decision.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

I love it! That's awesome! Good for you! How does FH feel about it?

He is fine with it. Two of my 'bridesmen' are male cousins who I am very close with. The third is my best friend who was married back in November. I was his best women.
DF is use to me not doing most things the 'normal' way.

Hm let's see:

-we are going to take our photos beforehand so we can spend time doing meet and greet durign the cocktail hour instead of having a private one because we actually want to be around our friends and family.
-Walking down the aisle to 'God Bless the Broken Road' instead of Bridal march and throughout the ceremony a lifehouse song will be playing.
-no garter/bq toss
-Female minister which rocked our Roman Catholic parents..OYE! lol
-noflorist flower CPS...We DIYed our own with lots of glasss, candles and gerbers.
-no intros of BP or us
-no limo...Arriving in Mom's Nissan Sentra lol because I'll get dressed at the hall.
-Wearing red satin heels beneath my dress with a red polka dot garter. FH is wearing red Doc Martens.

FH has a best woman, she's also a friend of mine and the one who introduced us. And, she's his ex. She'll be getting ready with the guys, mostly because they may need the help with the kilts.

Un traditional? My whole wedding!!!

Getting married in the park.

All the music for the ceremony is coming from the Star Wars soundtracks.

Tables are named after planets in the SW universe.

Not having a DJ or band - we're doing Karaoke!

Not taking limos - doing either classic cars or my dad's caddilac.

Not doing bok or garter toss, no line dances.

Not having a tiered wedding cake.

Pretty much the same here.

I absolutely LOATHE the bouquet/garter toss! It's just so awkward for everyone. . .not to mention that it wastes precious dancing time!

FH and I are being announced, but in pretty funny fashion. . .followed by a non-traditional first dance.

I love your idea of greeting guests at cocktail hour. FH and I have been thinking about that. . .it all depends on how long pictures run. . .

My cake was made out of rainbow cookies and no bo-q/garter toss, we are doing a blooper reel instead of baby pics in our video...oh and MIL fainting during the ceremony (I hope that one is untraditional!)

Thanks! Everyone thought I was completely out of my mind... but it was so great! (I dont like cake and rainbow cookies are one of my favorite things ever)

hmm I don't think were doing anythign too untraditional..just a few little things:

seeing eachother and taking pics before the ceremony
getting married outside our RH
having a bilingual ceremony (some parts German, some English, some both)
No introductions
RH isn't really an RH but an old castle thats been turned into a hotel
buffet style dinner

I guess thats it
