I think us girls need a thread too. Since I'm getting closer I have more and more questions about the place. I have a meeting tomorrow to make another payment and I'm trying to get questions together. Do you girls know if they will have the CH decorated? Ice sculpture or fall leaves, etc?

Actually.. the chairs is one thing that sold it for me.. I think they are very classy and elegant by themselves. I love the dark wood. I personally am not a fan of chair covers. I think the chairs match the elegance of the Carltun. Happy they are all new.. although they will be almost 2 yrs old once I get married haha

Hi girls,
Just want to let you know I have a Day of Coordinator who is helping me with my wedding which is NEXT week! She is amazing, and already has gone way beyone what I expected of her. She has handled my programs, menus, table frame cards...I could go on! She is really on top of things. She is just starting out...but I know she will be amazing. Anyway...I know she is familar with the Carltun, and I think she is actually friends with the banquet manager over there. So if any of you would like her contact info...I would be glad to pass it along...just contact me.

Hi girls!!!
I went to the carltun yesterday to give them my 50% check!!!! ouch!!! my next payment is 1 month before the wedding!!! I can't believe it is getting closer and closer.....
the new chairs are great!!! Also the chocolate fountain is 5-7 pp. Sheila also told me that they will be repainting the whole place in February and they will change the men's bathroom also!!!
when we went yesterday around 3pm, there were a lot of secret service trucks and limos outside the carltun with DC plates!! we thought the President was there but it was only the prime minister of Afghanistan having lunch there!!!

Re: Carltun Thread
Hi Ladies...I'm not a Carltun Bride but my girlfriend just got married there this past weekend and I just wanted to let you know that you all have nothing to worry about....nothing but great...Although I did not get a chance to eat at CH (FH & I were in the Bridal Party) my FMIL said everything was delicious esp the shrimp and the fajitas that they were making right at the station with your choice of filling...for the reception - the salad with the burgundy marinated pears, candied walnuts and raspberries was DELICIOUS...I didn't eat the risotto (too busy dancing but I heard that was excellent as well)...Here is the only negative thing I have to say FH & I both had the filet mignon - both of us did not care for it...it was dry and had no taste....FMIL had the same and said the same...HOWEVER, the Salmon encrusted with pecans was delicious (according to the other people at our table who ordered it)...for dessert they had the sample plate for each guest and they chose the creme brulle (sp) - DELCIOUS, a dark chocolate cake and fruit in a crispy shell - my favorite, their wedding cake was carrot and was also great...they had after hours from 1:30 to 3:00 with a dj, cigar roller, MORE food...so much fun...the bridal attendant and maitre d (I forgot both of their names - sorry) were so helpful...you needed something they ran and got it and hunted you down through out the reception...all in all very classy and elegant wedding...good luck and great choice in reception hall

Re: Carltun Thread
one of my bridemaids is going to a wedding at the carltun on friday night. i'm almost positive that her husband will order the filet so i will keep you posted. one thing to keep in mind...if the filet was cooked medium well or more, then you really can't expect a moist meat. it's not a fatty meat, so cooking it for too long will suck all the moisture out. (i love food.)
anyway, my bridesmaid is very critical, so hopefully she'll have some good feedback for us to bring back to our BMs to make sure anything that went wrong doesn't happen again.

Re: Carltun Thread
Well, my wedding is tomorrow, so I'll have plenty to report the week of October 16th, when I return from my honeymoon.
So far I can tell you that I had my final meeting on Tuesday and everything went perfectly! I feel 100% confident in the Carltun.

Re: Carltun Thread
i'm still gathering info from my best friend who attended a carltun wedding in september. here's a list of her initial reactions and things to discuss with our BMs:
- cocktail hour was gorgeous!!! the candles outside set the perfect ambiance!
- the vodka/caviar station didn't seem to be serving vodka?? maybe this bride ordered just caviar and an ice sculpture?
- 200 guests attended and the ballroom didn't look like it was large enough for a wedding of 300. however, she wasn't aware that the carltun has tables of 8, 10, and 12 - so who knows?
- the intermezzo was only served to half the guests at her table. she asked for an intermezzo and the waiter never brought it! also, the intermezzo was listed on the menu as having 3 flavors and only 1 was served! i will be discussing this with my BM!
- the salmon and filet mignon were amazing! both were served warm and the filet was cooked to her hubby's desired temperature. whew!
hope that helps!
