Re: Carlyle and Carltun
I was quoted 100pp for friday night in january at carlyle and 145 for friday night in june at carlyle..i chose the afternoon because it was a little cheaper and i still got to gave it in the spring month..only part that stinks about the afternoon is that the dessert table has to be in the ballroom instead of in the cocktail room..because there is another wedding shortly after mine. still the room is huge enough for it not to really matter..fm me if you want any other information..

Re: Carlyle and Carltun
We are paying 140 on a Sunday night in October. We just booked so we got them to lower their price from 155.

Re: Carlyle and Carltun
i looked at both places and preferred the carltun. (but ended up booking a hall in NJ!) i was quoted $130 for a fri night in may/june 2005 at the carlyle and $175 at the carltun these numbers are also based on a 275-300person guarantee
good luck!

Re: Carlyle and Carltun
My friend is paying 175pp for a friday night in Oct of 04 in carlye for 250people. But as if that isnt bad enough they add on a lot of extras that most halls include for example valet parkers they need 1 valet for every xx# of people (add$1000 to the wedding), the bridal attendant is not included (add another $1000 to total cost), And I think if they wanted a coat check that was also extra. Just be careful all these extra's techinally add to the total cost per person. So if they quote you $150++ it might be more like $160-170++. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples and not apples and oranges.

Re: Carlyle and Carltun
I LOVE the Carltun. There wasn't anything I could say I didn't love. i just love the look of the place. The Carlyle is very nice too. The reception room is great but if you want an outdoor cocktail hour - it is a strange set up. (half inside, half outside) Also - the outdoor area for a ceremony is nice but the outdoor area at the Carltun blew me away!
I do think the Carltun is the way to go in my opinion. It is incredibly elegant. Everyone has a different opinion though and lots of brides love the carlyle so it is a tough decision.
I couldn't book either because I didn't have enough people to meet their minimums at either place.
Good luck. You'll like both
Keep in mind at the Carlyle you have service charge, tax on that service charge and then gratuity on top of that. Negotiate the service charge since it is not the tip for the staff anyway. The tax on the service charge is frustrating but they don't budge on that since it's on state property - I think they are required to do this.

Re: Carlyle and Carltun
I will let everyone know what I decide on, I am also going to see the Floral Terrace on Saturday. I didn't realize that May 05 was booking up so fast so I feel alot of pressure to make a decision fast. Hopefully I will fall in love with one of the places on Saturday and make my decision. Thanks again!

Re: Carlyle and Carltun
My wedding was at Carlyle. I didn't look at Carltun because I had been to a wedding there and didn't like the ballroom, mainly because the ceiling was very low and it felt very claustrophobic.
