no I am allmost positive that would be an extra. What I was told was for the outside vanilla or choclate and for the inside vanilla mouse, choclate mouse, raspberry, strawberry, cannoli, and threre might have been one or two more choices that I cannot remember. the pictures are of all round cakes and there is one that has like candy pearls on it, two different types of swirl designs, a basket weave look and two more that I can not remember (sorry) but I just remember being disappointed about the whole cake choices and process----I can honestly say it is the one and only think I have ever been disappointed about at the carlyle. But you can always upgrade you just have to pay for it
That is very disappointing... did they tell you roughly how much the upgrade was or did it vary depending on what you wanted?

Re: carlyle brides
I sent them a picture of what I wanted and it wasn't extra... although it was very simple- round cake, 4 tiers- with simple buttercream and simple design with fresh flowers.
Although the cake was plain- it was uber delish- I had 2 layers of yellow cake w. canoli & 2 layers of choclate cake with choc. mousse.

Re: carlyle brides
Hi, Just booked October, 2005 at the Carlyle! Very excited!! But worried about one thing, has anyone done or been to a wedding there that was 'Gatsby Style'? We initially thought it would be better for a late wedding on a Friday night thinking that 'Gatsby Style' would be more like a buffet, so people won't be sitting down to dinner at 10PM, but they are charging us the same price as a sit down which is a little absurd. Any feedback?

Re: carlyle brides
we had ours on a Friday night. We did sit down and it was amazing i have no ide what gatsby style is- but usually buffet is MORE food than sit down.. so price shouldn't reallly decrease.
edited to add- we ate at the restaurant for free before we booked- that was our tasting.

Re: carlyle brides
we are having a friday night too in August and are doing a sit down as well.
i've never heard of that other style but do know that most places do charge more because they can't estimate how much food is needed in a buffet.
their menu looks great but they did say it could change by the time of the wedding just so they can keep things original

I was shown a few pictures of my choices that were included in the apckage. they were all beautiful and I was able to get the cake with chocolate frosting. They are very open to other things. I brought pictures of other things. I had wanted ganache frosting but was told it would be extra so I chanegd my mind

Ok, what is this executive tip? Who gets it? The Matre 'D? Who else? How much are you all giving?
