Re: Carlyle on the Green
I didn't like the set up. I think the only thing they have going for themselves is the reception room which is beautiful, but they have the cocktail or passed Hor'dorvs (spelling not right) in a dark hallway, I thought the inside ceremony room seemed like an old english style room, the outside garden I wasn't really impressed with for an outdoor ceremony and then they don't really have a specific landscaped area for photos, which I thought they would, but it's all a golf course, then I think they might even have golfers there when they have an event....not sure about that. I wasn't impressed considering they charge a lot per person, but the gentleman who we met with was very nice, but he clearly lets you know off the bat they are expensive and valet parking was also an extra fee, which I've never heard of. But that was just my personal opinion, other brides who may have been there for an event may tell you something else.

A Friend of ours is getting married there and is paying close to $200 pp on a Friday night.. Not only that they are paying close to $900 for valet parking.. Bridal attendant is not included and is another small fortune. They recommend that she tipped the matre 'd $1500 - $2000. A tiny bit too expensive for my taste

Re: Carlyle on the Green
My cousin was married there 2 years ago. The food was very good and I liked the main dining/reception room. The cocktail hour was very nice as well. This was the only thing that concerned me: It is set up in a small middle room. Tables are set up there but some guests did have to eat in a dark hallway it was a large wedding. There was only one main bar, and that bar was in a separate room and alot of the guests tended to hang out near the bar in a separate room. Other than that it was a very nice place.

Jess couldn't have said it any better. Those were my EXACT thoughts when I went looking there. We must have even met with the same sales rep! He told us that he was the 'BMW' of the wedding halls on LI. And the other ones we were looking at were the 'Pontiacs' and 'Chrystlers' of LI.

we looked at it. loved the reception room. cocktail room was too small. pretty pricey. everything was additional where at most other places would have been included. in my opinion, i think they are getting away with such high prices because of the fact that they had all these famous golfers there a few yrs ago.

barf. gag. hurl.
who would say something so stupid?
as for the place, it was too big for my needs. my FSIL recommended it as it was her 2nd choice, but it wouldn't have worked for us. we are looking to have ~100 people and our guests would have gotten 'lost' in the room. i would have never of thought of that, but my mom mentioned it could potentially look funny...i agreed...

I am a Carlyle bride! And proud! I went with them because they have excellent acoustics, the room is more classy than cheesy. It doesn’t have a sea of acoustical tile in the ceiling and brass light fixtures. (I'm an interior designer, so this is very important to me) And the food is excellent!
But I'm biased, since I am getting married there.
The room is big, so you need 150 as a minimum.

Re: Carlyle on the Green
I agree with snowboardgirl and the previous poster that Carlyle really works best for a very large wedding. We are also having our reception there, and we found that there weren't too many places on LI that could accommodate our sized wedding and also only had one affair at a time, which was important to us. There's no question that it's pricey, but the food and service are supposed to be outstanding. Thus far, we've had a very good experience with them.
Re: cocktail hour, the bar is indeed in a separate room from the ballroom. But if your wedding is large enough (and as the responses roll in, I think this is where we'll be), they'll open up a second and possibly third room (so that you have the main cocktail room, the hallway, plus 1-2 additional rooms), one of which also has a bar. I actually kind of like that there is a separate area - we are definitely big on volume control with the band, but there's only so much you can do if you still want people to dance, and I like that folks who prefer to catch up with friends and relatives can take a few minutes in the cocktail hour room if they like. But we don't have a lot of big drinkers, so I'm not worried about the real party folk bailing on the reception room.

thanks!
the food and service are what sold us.
the place does have its drawbacks, but weighing all the pros and cons we decided it was the way to go!
so no one has any thoughts on crescent club in bayville huh? is no news good news?

Re: Carlyle on the Green
Anjer4, do a search on it. I typed in Crescent Beach club under the search engine above and a couple of forums regarding the Crescent popped up. I plan to check out the place next week.
