i have been on 3 carnival and LOVED them
One royal carribean and it was AWFUL!!!
JMO - LOL

so far tonight I've spent most of my internet time, on the link Nicole posted (thanks, I saw pics of the renevations you talked about it was stunning!)

L, I've been on RC after going on a Princess... Right now we're between 2 ships on 2 lines,we're booking saturday.

mini RC review:

Dining room, we were not impressed with the food nor the company (assigned dining companions).. we ate at Jonny rockets when we got back to the ship from excursions and dined at Portofino for dinner, we had breakfeast delivered each morning ..

loved the Solarium!! best place to watch the sunset was in the hot tub, cocktail in hand , best part was we were almost the only ones in the hot tub.

Spa massages were soo relaxing,

we didn't go to the shows, nor climb the rockwall... we hit the casino a few nights after...

The service was not as impressive as the Princess, but nothing to complain about.

Princess:

We liked the food, we ate w/ FIL's everynight at a table for just the four of us.. Our waiter was great he brought our cocktails over to us as he greeted us after the first night & he knew what to bring & since I'm a pain always had my off the menu items prepared...

We gambeled here and saw a few scomedy shows w/ FIL's, but spent the time after dinner, in a lounge having cocktails w/ FIL's...

we didn't have any spa treatments on this ship, we were docked everyday (it left from San Juan, so we didn't hae a day at sea)

L,

What did you not like about RC that you liked about Carnivale?

I liked the idea of the freestyle cruising, but i did not like that you had to wait on an ABSURD line to make reservations in all of the restaurants that were actually edible - the food in main dining room was HORRIBLE -
i liked having the same waiter on carnival, food was amazing on all 3 i went on - maitre'd was awesome
customer service on RC was anything but personable - very dissapointed

carnival we went on a brand new ship that was amazing! i also didnt like that there were no bars or music in the actual casino - there was bar service but not an actual bar to sit at in the casino
only thing i did like was the spa and the french bistro restaurant

Re: carnival cruise?

Laura- I agree I HATED the anytime dining...we had set dining but one night we did the anytime dining after one of our excursions bc we wouldn't have been able to make it on time to our dinner and we wanted to rest first...The service was horrible, we didn't have to wait on line or anything but it wasn't the same.

Re: carnival cruise?

i think carnival gets a bad rap b/c its less expensive, my parents have been on over a dozen and they like carnival better than RC as well
i cant remember the other lines they've been on, they liked them too but not pleased with RC

we had to ask for certain condiments that are usually on ANY table, like ketchup, salt, etc and the waiter was annoyed when we asked!

ETA - and i dont think their annoyance was out of concern of our sodium intake

agreed on the food, on our cruise where we thought we were not spending on food, ended up costing a pretty penny eating at Portofino 6 nights, the service was almost non-exsistnt
