You indicated in an earlier thread that you had experience with first time homebuyers grants.
Could you please explain how this works? I tried doing some research on line but got mixed signals regarding income and purchase price thresholds.
Is there an income threshold? What about a purchase price threshold?
I'd hate to think I missed out on a free grant because I didn't educate myself enough. This may be too late for me but not for some of my friends and family who are looking to buy their first home. As well as some of the people on here who are doing so as well.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: CASG - FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS GRANTS
Posted by papabear Maybe you should spend more time being a real, as opposed to virtual, support system for your fiance. Then she wouldn't have to come on here looking for it from everyone else all the time. As for being a tough guy - does your picture icon represent your true self or is it just your way of acting like a tough guy.
My views regarding this issue were never disputed by anyone BUT your fiance and I believe all, if not most of them, had similar experiences with RE agents that I had.
She's wrong. You're wrong. Get over it. Move on. Have a nice day.
Papabear-
What I am saying is that you are an active user on a website that is 99% women and 1%men... It is not so much WHAT you say... but HOW you say it.
recognize that you have to be nice to women and treat them with respect... (obviously your mamma didn't teach you morals)
if you want to talk rude and rough then find a sports chat board and hang with the Real Men.

I do not trust real estate agents or mortgage brokers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
posted by CASG that sounds to me as a personal problem
not ALL people are the same
CASG, it wasn't a personal problem, we encountered RE agents/brokers who out right lied to us. We finally did find someone who was honest and helpful, but not until we dealt with 6 RE agents all from different companies that lied to us and one them even harressed us.
I won't even get into the story about our mortgage broker, that was a nightmare.
I know there are good people out there who have ethnics, values, and morals, it looks like we just didn't run in them when we were house hunting for over a year.
One of the RE agents actually said to me (our parents were helping us with closing costs and I must have mentioned that to her) when she kept bringing us to houses over our price range, 'that our parents should cough up more $$$'. Her words exactly as she was driving us in her BMW.
Another RE company advertised land for a house to be built when the town would not grant permits to build. They knew this even when we went into contract to build knowing it would get denied.
I have more stories about the RE agents/brokers we dealt with.
We were grateful when we finally found one who was honest, truthful, and helpful.
So after dealing with 6 RE agents who lied to us about different things and then finding 1 who did not, I am sure you understand my mistrust?!!!

It's so great to know that Papabear has so much time on his hands that he needs to interact on a wedding website and insult people. What was he just saying to CASG's fiance? Oh yeah - focus more energy on your real life. Good advice. Maybe he should take some of his own.
CASG - you've always given good advice and I appreciated when you emailed me and offered me help concerning becoming a RE agent. Thank you again.
I'm still trying to see what valuable assistance Papabear has ever offered on this website? Can someone please point me in the direction of the helpful links he's collaborated on?

My supporters choose to remain silent in public and I am an army of one. But in this struggle between right and wrong, it comes down to the facts and I am correct in my assessment of the actions, or lack thereof of real estate agents. That has NOT been disputed.
As for helpful links I have collaborated on, it has become apparent that CASG and her fiance are not the only ones who lack certain reading skills.
I'm sorry I don't come on here and give big everytime someone feels the need to tell everyone about some little detail on their wedding but I do come on here to and bring certain realities to life - its your cloudy minds that rain on your own parades, not my comments.
And before you continue mocking my interaction on this website let me just say that I don't look at this site in terms of its gender - you do.
I bet half of my total posts are in defending my positions on certain subjects -and I have a right to that opinion! Just like you have a right to yours - its a healthy debate - not everyone is going to give hugs to soothe your big fat egos so get over it. But when I see a post that attacks me and is outright WRONG, I have a right to make it correct. You can NOT take that way from me.
Whatever, I have tax season ahead of me and I get married in three months - sorry if I offend people but really, come on...you really are too much - get over this emotional support system on here and look for it from your fiances.

and all accountants are geeks? lawyers are all ambulance chasers? librarians all wear buns? you are laying claim on a generalization that you are right...

i am so sorry that you feel this way...it is so sad...the only person that you can look to to comfort you is your FW? Thats a lot of pressure to put on one woman...
my point exactly...I am sure Gina is not the picture that papabear posted...

Learn to have respect and we will listen to you and your thoughts

you just cant let it die can you....
why don't you just read what everyone is saying and get a life!
you should seriously be removed from this board because you are a troublemaker.
nobody cares about YOUR 2 cents... You don't know everything, and you pretend to be intelligent when you really are far from it.
Im done with you... I've spoken my peace and I can only hope the administrator on this board reads this and tosses you, because you are on a womens chat board and you have no idea how to treat women.

Re: CASG - FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS GRANTS
It's not even a matter of how he treats women - but people in general. I have no problem with a man posting on this forum. Men and women plan weddings, so men and women should be on this site. But I do have a problem with people who choose to constantly force their opinion on others and ignore anything else. It is rude and it is sad to me. I am on these boards because I have formed friendships with many of the women. If I only had my FH to look to for support, perhaps I'd be as sad and unhappy as you Papabear.... I choose to surround myself with friends who offer me advice and their opinions. Perhaps that might be something you can try as well.
I was led to think that people who are on here to cause trouble should be kicked off. Was I wrong in thsi assumption?
