I have a number of vendors who want cash only and my better judgement is saying to go somewhere else but FH really likes them. Is anyone else getting the same thing from their vendors? and what is the deal with them not preferring AMEX? Do I really need to hear that they prefer one over the other b/c of interest? Not really my problem!!!

i have never heard of cash only......most will say if you want to pay in cash we will take the tax off but not only cash

most of my vendors require that the balance is paid the night of the wedding in cash, which I can understand bc they don't want a check to bounce or a stop payment to be placed and then they never get paid... but most should take credit cards for deposits...

i arranged a cash only deal w/ my florist (FBB) only because they agreed to shave off $ 200 off the total price. I prefer cash only vendors because that way I don't incur any credit card debt and will be done w/ paying everyone after the wedding.
wish i could do the cash only thing w. my RH though!!

I preferred cash only because they shave the tax...saves lots of $$! We did cash only with our photog and our florist...as long as you have a contract you will be safe...and don't forget to look up all your vendors on BBB before you book with them too

We paid most of our vendor dep is cash to save the tax and they all want the balance the night of in cash

All vendors took either cash or cc, but the balance had to be in cash two weeks prior. And honestly I preferred the cash since I saved on the tax.
Also, ALOT of businesses do not like Amex since the interest from the credit card processing companies are higher.

we did the same we are paying all our vendors with cash it lowered the price

I dont have that much cash We're trying to pay everything off by the wedding day so we charge then pay the card off once we get paid. AMEX is the only card offering a big credit limit. All the credit card co's charge the same interest.

you can negotiate better with cash, so thats what were doing... plus balances given within 2 weeks of your date are usually vash only
a lot of people dont take amex because you can dispute charges with them really easily if your not happy with a vendor/service/business

a lot of places will only take cash for the final balance because they don't want to deal with checks or cc. I am paying to my florist, photog and limo in cash because they took off tax.
also, a lot of vendors dont like amex because is costs them more to accept it. there's a fee everytime they accept a cc which is why they prefer cash also.

AMEX rates are higher so vendors don't typically like them. i haven't heard of cash only UNLESS they are offering you a great deal i.e. no tax!

We never thought about this. FH and I made a promise to ourselves that we were not going to put anything on our credit cards and we are just about 2 months til the wedding and we paid everything in cash and plan to do that for the next 2 months too.

We have paid everything so far by check or debit card and last payments the week and day of are all in cash.

I pay cash whenever possible....bc then I avoid paying tax....and thats a hell of a lot of savings.

I hope to only do cash w/my vendors if if the take CC. B/C i want to save $$ on the tax; an not have any wedding debt after the big day.

It wouldn't bother me. I ahve some vendors we paid through PayPal. Most of my vendors actually want final payments in cash.
I've actually worked several places that don't take AMEX. The fees are higher, but I also belive it's because of the Amex warranty policy.
