FH and I were thinking of having a casual e-party, maybe a BBQ in Prospect Park or something, but we wanted to invite people that won't be invited to the wedding. Is that bad? I was planning on writing something like, No gifts, just bring yourselves.
But does that mean that people will expect to be invited to the wedding too?

IMO, you should only invite the people who are invited to the wedding. If I was invited to an engagement party I would definetly think I'd be invited to the wedding.

I agree.
You can do something informal, but its bad etiquette to invite people you knowingly aren't going to invite to the wedding.

I'm with the ladies on this one....I think if you are invited to an e-party, you should expect to be invited to the wedding.
I think a BBQ is fine if you want to invite non-wedding-guests, but don't market it as an e-party, just a good old fashioned BBQ for friends.

definetly NOT a good idea. People would probably be really offended if they were invited to the engagment party and not the actual wedding. I know I would be.

I agree that you should only invite people to the e-party that will be invited to the actual wedding.

I def don't think anyone should be invited to any pre wedding activities but not the wedding itself.

I agree, you don't want to lead them on into thinking they will be invited to the wedding.
