Why do people say 'I hate cats' . And then you ask them, why and they say - I don't know, I never had one, but they look sneaky, evil, dirty etc.
I think that's an unfair statement. I never had cats before I met my DH and now we have 2 plus Casey. They are the most sweet loving kitties ever. And very clean. Sometimes sneaky but never evil.
So - why do people 'hate' cats so much?

Re: Cat spinoff..for those who 'hate' cats...
I'm really just not much of an animal person. When I was a kid, I was afraid of dogs and cats. I stopped being scared of cats first, but for some reason, I like dogs a lot better. DHs family has 2 cats - until recently they had 3. I just don't find them friendly. Mostly, I just hate the smell of a house that has cats. I'm allergic, and no matter how much someone cleans, I still start sneezing and my eyes start running. So i guess I mostly hate them b/c they make me miserable!

I used to say that ALL the time...until I got 2 of my own and now I'm cat lady and am obsessed with my boys. I guess I always thought they were just mean and had no personalities, but my two boys have the sweetest loving personalities and would never hurt a fly. My sister's cats are evil and possessed, but I still love them.

Re: Cat spinoff..for those who 'hate' cats...
sorry I am a cat hater. I am high allergic so I will never get to know one. I don't like how they have a leaping ability, almost like there is no controling where they will go. I am not for hunting cats, but I hate the fact that due to neighborhood cats, I can't have my window open in my bedroom and I HATE the smell of cat spray
I love all animals BUT as far as cats are concerned every single one I have ever been around for an extended period of time (friends, neighbors, family, etc.) have attacked me.
They are all nice and purring one second, and the next I have claws and/or teeth in my skin.

I love animals as well...but do not like cats (hate is a strong word).
My best friend had several at one time when we were growing up...the ones that were mean were MEAN...scratching, biting...i just didn't understand the appeal. Nothing against cat lovers...i do know some cats are awesome pets, i just have yet to meet one. I too am allergic and my throat swells up when i walk into a room with cats. Another reason i was never a cat person. Its hard to love an animal when the second you are around them, you wheeze and can't breathe!

Re: Cat spinoff..for those who 'hate' cats...
My FMIL is deathly afraid of cats b/c when she was younger a cat jumped off a shelf somewhere she was visiting and landed on her shoulder. She says that cats are sneaky. When we were thinking of getting a kitten she said she would have to come over a lot so she could get used to her. I love cats and couldn't imagine living without them. Although my kitten is a terror, she is so cute and playful and greets me at the door purring everyday when I get home from work/school.

I hate them because I am HIGHLY allergic. So much so that I almost died once - I was in the hospital for 3 days after an attack.
Otherwise I think they are cute to look at.

my DH used to always say e hated cats - he is HIGHLY ALLERGIC but........he was @ my MOH's house watching TV and we walked into the den and there was her cat on dh's chest getting petted by 'the cat hater.'
SO I said - I thought you hated cats and he was like well he's ok. His eyes turned into golf balls and we had to leave but you get it.

I wouldn't say that I hate them, but growing up we always had dogs for pets, so I'm partial to them. Plus, I just haven't met any cat that is as friendly a dog. They just seem very aloof to me.

Re: Cat spinoff..for those who 'hate' cats...
We have a bunch of stray cats around our house that just wont go away and we arent feeding them. They have peed everywhere around our garage and it smells and have attacked my dog Hercules a few times. I know he cant hold his own...and he goes back for more. Hes been b*tch slapped a few times and comes back with scratches all the time. Kind of funny actually
I dont 'hate' them...but I am not fond of them either. Im a dog lover! I do have a sad/weird story that refers to why we dislike cats. I wont bore you with this story but its enough to justify why.

My in-laws always say us converts are the worst. They've always had cats and I never had a pet until I met my husband. Now he says I'm out of control. We're up to 3 and he's fed up with me because I can't stop. I love em. I hate when people say I hate cats, unilaterallly and then they see ours and they're like oh they're so cute and they're so nice and friendly. Well, HELLO, they're are nasty dogs too, you know. Animals are only as good as their training and their home. I personally think that cat's personalities are what makes them fun. they're much smarter and funnier than dogs!

I don't hate them but I don't really care for them. I just don't see the appeal in cats. They're very finicky - some are cute and sweet and cuddly, others are nasty and unsocial. Most of the ones that I've come across are unsocial - you have to chase them down to pet them! You can't play with cats the way you play with dogs either.

Re: Cat spinoff..for those who 'hate' cats...
1.) I lived in a place where a cat had her babies under our house/porch and if we weren't careful, they would run in the front door. They also would snatch our laundry off the line and drag it out to the front lawn. We had to be really careful on underwear loads!
2.) I have been attacked and bitten twice by housecats that were supposedly 'gentle.' Perhaps they were gentle with their owners, but not with me. When I was living with someone for the summer, her cat would jump up on the countertops when I would try to cook and prepare food.
3.) I hate listening to cats howling outside my window when I try to sleep and hate the smell of cat urine outside of places where I have lived.
I agree that the pets are probably as well behaved as they are trained to be, but my own experiences with cats have not been that great, that is why I dislike them so much. My personal experiences with dogs have not been as bad.

Re: Cat spinoff..for those who 'hate' cats...
I used to hate cats. Now I just dislike them. That's mainly because one or two have wormed their way into my heart.
Reasons why I am not a Cat Fan: 1. Allergic. 2. I prefer animals that love you back and are rather demonstrative of such. Most cats I've known glance disdainfully at the humans around them, and generally avoid all human contact where there is not food involved. 3. My aunt had these two cats, one has since passed, that were just rediculously spoiled and pampered and snotty. Just generally has turned me off towards all things feline.
However, I have been able to find some level of affection for Sadie and Marla (two different friends' cats). They are good cats.

I disagree with that one - my dog could understand spelling and I could tell you some REALLY funny stories about him!
Which one is better is nothing more than a matter of opinion.
