Cat still missing (UPDATE 7-23-10) Its been 2 weeks

We have seen him a few times but he is so scared that he runs and hides. The vet told us not to take it personal bc he has no claws and he sees everyone as a threat but i still cant help but cry.

i miss the little guy so much and so does my other cat. he sits at the door crying all night.

tonight we put up a cat trap. hopefully it will work.

i have barely slept in a week.

does anyone have any ideas to how i can catch a scared lost indoor kitty ??

also maybe try calling north shore animal league. they're long island's biggest animal shelter and they may be able to offer advice and assistance too

Maybe yyou can help me find a number to call ......... i am so exhausted from lack of sleep when i go outside its like i see things that arent there, your mind starts to play tricks on you

no no your situation is literally bringing tears to my eyes, if my baby (dog but still) got out and got lost i would be a MESS, he was a rescue and was already a stray once, i don't think he could di it again. but animals are such resourceful little guys, have faith that your little guy is ok and is hanging on!!

I hope so, its just hard when you dont even know if he is alive. when i would see him and he would run bc he was scared it at least made me feel better bc i was actually seeing him. now i dont hear a meow or anything, u start to loose hope

I am not big on feelings but I really feel bad for you - I hope you can get your kitty home safe. Spookie would be in such big trouble if she did this to me- id die.

Oh Joey, I'm so sorry you still haven't found him! Everytime I'm out with Jeter, I'm always on the lookout. So sad.

oh my gosh i have two little babies of my own and i would be DEVESTATED beyond belief so i can completely relate. honestly, i would probably just run after the kitty like a crazy person til she was caught but that's bc i'm a moron. honestly i have no idea what would be best. have you looked online?

aww thanks ang !! its like taking over my life just knowing he cant defend himself and is out there all alone in the dark makes me sick to my stomach.

im sure if he is by ur block jeter will find him

Awwww I'm so sad to hear this

Try putting some food in the areas where you are seeing him. It might take a few tries, but you might be able to snag him when he's occupied eating.

Leave a trail of food to your door and wait to see if he comes.

Leave a bowl of food by your door.

Ask you neighbors to keep a lookout also, possibly put out some food by their houses.

If and when you do see him, unless he bolts immediately, try to keep him occupied with a cat toy and have you FH try to snag him.

yes i did but when i called the shelters they said its not likely that an indoor cat would be there bc they are so scared they wont go up to a stranger.

i have tried it all but he doesnt fall for any of that stuff.

its like he is so stupid but smart at the same time (if that makes sense)
