Catering Halls???

Re: Catering Halls???

I have been to a wedding at Majestic Gardens and it was really nice, the food was great and the bride was completely satisfied. I have also been to Lands End for a wedding and everthing was great there too and the bride was also very happy. I am getting married at Villa's, so of course, it's my favorite, but I have heard wonderful things about Villa's from friends and family. I think it really depends on the type of place you wnat. Majestic and Lands End are different, but nice in there own ways. Sorry if this wasn't much help!

I looked at Oheka in early 2001...this is what I got

site fee (reduced on holiday...I was going to book mothers day...) $4000

then depending on how many guests and what night ...$180-240 pp

I think I figured it out for us it would be $28K...but remember that is for the ENTIRE day...not just 5 hours...and you get the bridal suite...

I am SURE prices have gone up...I think they have redone it as well

I'm getting married at The Inn at EastWind next Sept. If you have any questions FM me.

Well, that is a lot of places you are planning on looking at. Friday night is less expensive in all places but, many of these places want a minimum number of guests. I'd call them back and ask if there is a minimum before trekking all over. Also I'd scratch the HTH---I am not a fan of that place at all.

Re: Catering Halls???

Well I am going to a showcase tonight at majestic with my mother. then I am cramming as many as I can go to this weekend. I want to make a decision before mid february. I feel like I haven't gotten anything started yet.
Saturday-Inn at Eatwind & Watermill
Sunday-Carlyle on the Green & maybe Huntington Town House. & possibly Watermill.

I want to be the only wedding that day, so maybe not the watermill. Also you guys keep saying no to HTH, maybe I won't waste my time. How many places did you girls look at before you made your decision?

Thanks for all your help.

I knew I loved the food and prices at the EastWind so I looked at 2 other places but went back w/ them.

If you are against numerous weddings at a time definately knock out HTH.

I've heard the Port Jefferson Country Club is lovely.

I looked at 7 places and chose the PJCC - only one wedding at a time and on the water. I would stay away from the HTH. I also liked the Huntington Harbor Club but didn't like that it had no grounds - its right on the parking lot. Fox Hollow was nice, too. I also like the Watermill.

My wedding is at the Crest Hollow Country Club. It has a large space with a pool, fountain, a pond, and Japanese garden. There will be plenty of space to have your ceremony. It is also very nice inside. It has up to three weddings at a time, but everyone I know that went to a wedding there says that they don't see each other. The banquet manager promised me that it is timed so no one runs into each other. My father bargained the price down to $90 pp on a Sunday on Columbus day weekend in October. Also, I have heard nothing but great things about the food there.

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but you MUST go see the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling. If you want an outdoor ceremony, they are perfect. plus it has a beautiful indoor option, just in case it rains! and it is a really good value, especially if you have your wedding on an off-peak month. They are on this site and their website has TONS of pictures. They are also awesome to work with and fabulous food.

of course, i am biased!

Don't waste your time with the HTH. From what you described, it's not your style.

I would recommend the North Ritz Club. It's a beautiful place and you have it all to yourself. It has gotten great reviews and they're great to deal with! I wouldn't look at HTH since it's not one event at a time and it has gotten a lot of bad reviews. Good luck!!
