Pamela that's if they decide to clean the glasswork around the place. I went to a bridal show there and didn't find it impressive at all. I guess if you like modern,it's ok. But didn't think it was more than that.

Good luck and let us know how you did.

Lenore, thanks for the input, I have to mention those things when I see my Banquet Manager. But what really impressed me was the food and the service. My fiance and I were able to attend a tasting before we booked our wedding and we loved it. As I tell people that my wedding is at The Metropolitan, all I hear are good things. Thanks again, any other info. would be great.

Thank you for your comment. I am having my wedding at the Metropolitan in November and to me the food, the service and the atmosphere are unbeatable. If I were looking for a place with a view the Metropolitan would not be where I am getting married. Therefore, I hope no one is examining the windows as they are being served some of the best food I have ever tasted and dancing the night away.

People choose places for different reasons. You should keep that in mind when posting comments like that. I hope your hall is EVERYTHING you want because the Metropolitan is EVERYTHING I want.

They have two rooms. Our room has a room max of 240, and we had to guarentee 150 min. I think the other room upstairs is a bit bigger.

Flash,

I'm wondering about some of the details of this poll. How many people were polled? Were they all vendors? And how long ago? I'd appreciate the info because I think I would be able to better interpret it with some more detail on how the data was obtained. Thanks!

Marguerite, It was very informally done by people we work with, in response to some of the vague questions on this chat room. We all work in the wedding business, and it is new. Chiao.

Thanks for sharing this information. I really like them and I might order my favors soon.

Sandy

I guess the Metropolitan is nice but I thought it was too pricey. Reminds me of a Manhattan style place but for Manhattan wannabe's. Just my opinion.

She also did something cool which was Shower BIngo...it seemed to be a big hit and cut the monotony of opening the presents...you never saw so many women get excited over a coffee maker!!!

You are absolutely right. It is a Manhattan style place. But, not the price of Manhattan. I looked everywhere in Manhattan for less than $150 per person and came up with NOTHING. I wouldn't call myself a Manhattan wannabe becasue if I could have afforded to do it there, I would have. The Metropolitan has all the class and style of a Manhattan townhouse. If that is what you like I think you should check it out. If not, then there are tons of other places on LI that have the "cottage feel."

Thanks Lori !

I'm afraid to make waves because my dress is there, my video and I bought my invitations from them. But if the rest of my arrangements don't go smoothly, this place (and Bob) will hear it!

I agree - actually I am a Manhattanite, whose parents insisted on having the wedding in LI (where I grew up) and I loved the Metropolitan - I was really looking for the modern type of building and loved the room for the ceremony and the balcony area for cocktails. Nice to know that at least there is enough of a selection out there for everyone to find something that is a "good fit"!

You sound like the innocent business owner in your response, but it won't fly with these brides. We have all been through too much.

I know how horrible you must feel, I too have had problems with the Commack Wedding Center in the past (with bridesmaid dresses). If you had felt so strongly at the time that the dress was too short, you should have refused to pay for it. I would have stood there and screamed until I got my way. They have one seamstress who is absolutely terrible. If you leave with the dress and sign the receipt, then legally the wedding center is not responsible. However by making what happened known to the Better Business Bureau, the news or everyone you can think of, if he has any conscience, he will do the right thing. Take the advice that everyone had left and go to another seamstress. Don't let something so minor as a hem ruin your special day. It is not worth it.

Re:zagerts of Catering Halls

well is this the zagerts of catering halls or do the vendors doing the analysis think they are? correct this is an opinion, but if you want to openly compare all of these points, you most certainly can judge by your answers. i don't agree with a group analysis especially when these vendors probably do most of their work at these halls, so how objective are they???? but agreed, fox hollow and westbury manor have NO LOBBY!, in fact westbury manor is just a hallway/foyer!!!!!, walking by a bathroom when you first enter, come on. fox hollow is like walking into someones ski chalet or den with a fireplace....sorry no lobby. wesbury has some grounds, and fox hollow now has none!, chateau briand has a shoe store and parking lot. crest hollow has nice grounds, have you ever seen the grounds at woodbury c.c. prob the nicest of all places....russo has none..no grounds, no pictureesq areas, no lobby, no grand entrance or drive up...you are on crossbay boulevard, oh my goodness. so some points made are good, but how prejudicial are other points. someone should be totally objective, right? .........will I get bombarded? pls hold the sarcasam to a minimum!

NYT- The Metropolitan, Glen Cove

There is a beautiful picture of the ceremony room and the reception room in the NYTimes Occasions section today.

Just a comment on Bridal Reflections, they are a bit pricey and you may be able to find the same dress at another shop for a significantly cheaper price.

Other than that, I have heard better things about Bridal Reflections in Massapequa than the one in Carle Place. I haven't heard anything about the other store.

I am getting married at The Metropolitan on December 30, 2000. I'm using Scarcellas, "T" is great, I love her !! My photographer is Lenny Marx of LenMar. We're still toying betweeen band or DJ. I think band because of that beautiful set up with the stage. I'm getting so exited and hearing from you, Rachel makes it even more exciting. I love The Metropolitan.

this site has everything you might need for a jewish wedding www.mazornet.com/jewishcl/weddingr.htm

I agree! I've been in catering for years and I have to say that Scarsellas is on the money for service, quality and Tee is a doll.

That's GREAT!!! I love the Metropolitan too. It is great for a fall/winter wedding. Who is your contact there? We have been dealing with Michael who has returned every phone call, accomodated our every need and has referred us to the best vendors.

The only reason we aren't using Len is because he was booked for our date. We opted for John H. from JoVon who is supposed to be great also. He did my friend's wedding, so I am not too nervous.

Tee is so great. Isn't her shop WONDERFUL!!! How are you decorating? She has GREAT ideas!!! It will look so beautiful around Christmas. What a great time of the year.

Pamela-Lynn- I am also getting married at the Metrolpolitan and we are going with the Christmas theme as well(we are getting married Nov 24- the day after Thanksgiving). I would love to hear your plans/ideas!

IT'S BEAUTUFL. THE WEDDINGS ARE LOVELY. THE FOOD IS GOOD. AND EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE A GREAT TIME. I THINK THE PRICES ARE FAIR. CHECK WITH THEM ON THE NUMBER OF GUESTS. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT.

Just curious as to why you'd want all three from one source.
