I thaink that's what I have to do. I'm not anxious to tive up getting married ina church and I'm not sure if I'll find a priest to do it, but those are the breaks. I had also thought of doing 2 ceremonies, but FH's family didn't like that.

Re: Catholic Brides
We are both Catholic; although a lot of times I tease him that he really isn't. When getting all the info together for the church he couldn't remember who his godparents were, where he was baptised, who sponsered him for Confirmation etc....... He also wasn't raised to go to church frequently as a child as I was. I was in Catholic school from elementary through college!!!

Re: Catholic Brides
MY sister was also in Catholic School forever. I left after 3rd grade and never went back! Although I did date Regis boys. ...but seriously...it's rough. I'm more involved religiousl;y than FH is, but of course at the wedding all this becomes important to him and the fact that he hasn't set foot in a temple since his baer mitzvah is irrelevent. it's so hard to find a happy medium!

Being Catholic and getting a church can be a struggle. I was extremely worried at first even given the fact we are both Catholic. Our particular problem is that we aren't parishoners of the church in which we are getting married. I have heard many times it can be a struggle when both are non-parishoners. I think they gave us a break becuase we chose the church where my parents were married. We still need a 'letter of release' from our own parish.

Re: Catholic Brides
There's so much paperowkr no matter what. And there will be more with special dispensations b/c we're not both catholic. The priest who said he'd meet with us is leaving to go overseas. I hope another priest will meet with us now and not make us wait. There really is a lot to plan from now until then.

Re: Catholic Brides
borh catholic and no problems thus far. what paperwork are you referring to? we filled out one form when we met w/ the priest, but that is it so far.
we are in pre-cana now and plan to meet w/ the priest again to go over the mass. we also have to decide on the readings and make the programs (all due at the rehearsal).

Re: Catholic Brides
Well,iw s rferring to the letter fo release another bride mentioned. There's also the form you have to get 2 people to sign that you've never been married b4, etc. And for mee I need dispensation ot marry a non-catholic and dispensation to get married outside of the church AND dispensation ot deviate from the standard catholic ceremony.

Re: Catholic Brides
I am Catholic and Fh just made his Communion and Confirmation on Saturday night to become a Catholic. He was Lutheran but because we decided that we are going to bring our children up Catholic he wanted to convert. I was fine with it either way but I respected his choice and I am very proud of him. So he has till June and he will be finished with his classes.
