Im having a ceremony not a mass. How long is the ceremony and do you have readers involoved? Im totally clueless because I've only been to weddings with a full mass.

I really think the difference is 15 minutes and only gifts and eucharist. I am pretty sure there are still readers....but dont quote me

A ceremony is usually only about 30 minutes and yes there are still readers in a ceremony.

Yup, I'm reading at my cousin's ceremony this Saturday!

Ceremony is 30 minutes...You have 3 readings...I know there is a reading from the New Testament & the Old testament & then I can't remember the other...My church gave me a book with all the readings we can choose from along with the meaning of what the readings are portraying! I think it is easier that way...I do not understand that old language!

The third 'reading' is the petitions (short prayers followed by 'Lord Hear Our Prayer' response). That's what I'm reading on Saturday

So the Petitions are done even if there is no Eucharist? I wasn't' sure.

I'm getting married in an Episcopal church & there is a similar part but it wasn't mentioned in the ceremony book.

There is also the Gospel, which is read by the priest (that's your third reading).

The Responsorial Psalm (in between the first and second reading) can either be sung or read.

Petitions are still done, but that is not considered a reading.

I think this is right

We just had a ceremony and it lasted about 35/40 minutes. Really depends on your priest's homily. We had 3 readers -
1 for OT, 1 for NT and 1 for Prayer of the Faithful.

I though the Gospel was skipped if wasn't a full Mass.

The only thing not included in a ceremony is the Eucharist.
