Catholic Church Brides
Re: Catholic Church Brides
I am not getting married in a church but I think most churches require 'sleeves' and they do not count the halter top...it might depend on the church but I know that my church from my childhood would required a jacket/shawl
Re: Catholic Church Brides
I think it varies based on the church, I don't know of any requirements like that for mine but I've heard of that for other churches.
Re: Catholic Church Brides
Maybe next time I meet with the priest I should ask him
Re: Catholic Church Brides
I'm getting married in a Catholic Church and my dress is a strapless sweetheart. I do not plan on using a shawl and the priest hasn't mentioned anything to me so far.
Re: Catholic Church Brides
It depends on your church rules, I know mine does not make you wear a shawl but I know other that do. You should just call them and ask

Re: Catholic Church Brides
My church just says that your dress should be 'tasteful.' Basically, they don't want the girls hanging out. If your dress is a higher cut halter, it should probably be OK, but I'd definitely check it out with the church first.
Re: Catholic Church Brides
My priest said that strapless wasn't allowed, but my sister got married in the same church and she had strapless...so who knows....
Re: Catholic Church Brides
oh now im nervous.. the priest never mentioned anything when we went to meet with him, and there weren't any wardrobe restrictions listed on the 'dos and donts' he gave us.. i'm soooo calling them tomorrow!
Re: Catholic Church Brides
I'm wearing a strapless sweetheart-neckline gown and even if they tell me it isn't allowed, I'm doing it anyway.. lol. They're not going to kick me out. The Catholic Church is way too strict about everything to begin with so they need to relax a little IMO.
