Hey... I've already had my initial meeting with the church; and i've done pre-cana.... but i'm about 6 months away from my wedding, and i haven't met with anyone or anything since.... I feel like my priest mentioned getting together with the wedding coordinator about 6 months before-hand to go over readings and music/songs etc.
I just called and talk to the receptionist there, who didnt really have a clue about anything.... what has other brides getting married in the catholic church done... do you have a meeting and stuff ~6 months prior? if so.. what was it for?
Thanks

Wow, I think I did all that stuff in the last month. You have all your readings and such picked out already? I would think you have plenty of time but keep calling til you get someone who knows what they are talking about just to be safe.

Re: catholic church meetings questions...
I am getting married in March as well and I was told to make an appt. right after we completed pre-cana. So yes, this means I will be making an appt about 5 months before hand.

Oooooh!! Now I feel better! :) Yeah, I picked that stuff out basically as I was working on the program so it was pretty last minute! I know I had to call my church a ton of times every step of the way though so keep on them!!

Re: catholic church meetings questions...
I'm getting married in the catholic church on 11/18 and have my meeting to select readings and music on 10/14...about 1 month before. I'm sure every church is different so keep calling till you get the answer you need. Good luck!

Re: catholic church meetings questions...
We made up our wedding program, brought it to the Church about 2-3 months before the wedding for approval and then we met with the musical director about a month before the wedding to go over our music. Then, we were done!

Take a look in your pre-cana book. The back part should ahev all the readings outlines, psalms, vows, etc for you to choose from.
As for music - I played around on I-tunes to see what I liked and got ideas from the girls on the boards.

Re: catholic church meetings questions...
If anything, I would contact the organist and/or cantor.... perhaps you can set up a time so they can help you choose appropriate music or you can share some choices you may have.
the priest won't need to see until about a month before just to make sure your readings are appropriate and any last minute questions are answered.

I have to go about 2 months before just to give the priest my readings.
