My mom told me that there was so much food at the cocktail hr that she nor my MIL ate that much at dinner. We were given extra stations including shripm etc and the guests stuffed themselves. So becareful not to add too much..it mayb e a waste.

Re: Caution
Funny you said that, but I did the same thing at the wedding I was in this past Saturday. I was so hungry that I pigged out at the cocktail hour and then couldn't eat my dinner!!

Re: Caution
That's 'cause the CH food is always so yummy and when you get there you are hungry. I went to a wedding at Crest Hollow and saw the bin/pail that the dirty plates were piled into - most of the plates had at least half the dinner on it.

My aunt only eats at cocktail hours and viennese hours. She may eat a salad or pasta course too but she always get her entree wrapped up to bring home.

I keep telling everyone to starve themselves at least one day before the wedding.

You are paying for all of it - as long as everyone goes home having delicious food it doesn't matter if they ate at the CH or the dinner.

i do this too, and i hate it!! i think it is such a waste. that is why i've cut down my cocktail hour dramatically. my CH will be passed hors d'oeuvres, a raw bar, a sushi bar, and a caviar bar - just 'finger foods' to have with cocktails before dinner. i feel like that is what CHs were originally supposed to be, and that they are now blown out of proportion to be more important that the actual dinner!
