Cell Phone Help

Cell Phone Help

I have sprint pcs but I'm looking to change. I want a cheap plan- $20-$30/month. I only use my phone for emergencies and quick 'I'm stopping here do you need anything' calls.

The two plans I found are Sprint and T-Mobile. T-Mobile has more mins but not sure how the service is on long island/north shore of suffolk county specifically.

ETA: My phone now gets very bad reception. I know I need a new phone. I am more interested in cell phone reception service then customer service.

Adding another choice to the mix: Cingular

I used to have T-mobile, now have Nextel...as far as service goes, I liked the T-Mobile better, had that about 2-3 yrs and the price is awesome, I pay so much more for the NExtel. Everytime I had an issue (small issueS) the T-mobile customer service was great! I'm thinking of switching back to save some money....

How was the phone service? Where did you use the phone? I drive from south shore mid suffolk to north shore western suffolk. Not as interested in customer service. The phone I have now gets really bad reception/service

Thanks for your quick response.

well I lived in Central islip, then in Babylon, worked in Holtsville, then in Melville, so Isued it from all those places frequently without a problem.

We have Verizon and I have no complaints whatsoever!! I get pretty good reception/coverage - even in Penn Station and while going through the tunnels!

We have used our phones from the east coast to the west coast and never had any problems.

Verizon's cheapest plan was $35 and thats almost double what I pay now. Not to be cheap, but I really don't use my phone that much.

I dont blame you at all!! I didn't price out the plans.

DH uses his phone all the time (he works on the road) so we need a lot of minutes.

I just got AT&Ts GSM ccoverage and I am very happy with it. Its actually better than the digital coverage that I had with them.

I had Sprint and I hated hated hated them. A friend of mine has T-Mobile and she's happy. I have Verizon with FH. We have the shared plan.

I love T-MObile. I've had it for about 2 months now and I am very happy. My phone is constantly in service and people tell me all the time that you can't even tell I'm on a cell. I live in Mineola, work in Jericho and have had no problems. I've also been at my mom's house in Oyster Bay and have had no problems. A couple of weeks ago I was at a party in the basement of a catering hall, everyone's cell phone was no signal expect mine-I actually had full signal.

I was wondering that. FH and I wanted to go onto a shared minute plan, but I was worried they hadn't perfected the network yet.

Where do you use your GSM phone?

I had Sprint for 3 years and I have no complaints... then I switched to Nextel and it is even better (but more expensive too).

I am on the AT&T gsm network & I hate it. I always have a weak signal, always dropping calls & people can never hear me. Before that I had Nextel & I had alot of problems w/that too. I'm switching to Verizon, my brother has it & loves it.

DH and I have T-Mobile which is good and pretty cheap, we pay $60 for both of us. Shared plan, 800 minutes per month. The service is okay, I do a lot of driving and I do get dropped calls. AT&T was horrible!!
My sister has Verizon and she never loses service, but she pays like $80 month just for her. She needs a lot of minutes, she is on the phone all the time.

Misstene - I live in Suffolk, north shore. I usually always have a full signal. It works fine in Nassau when I am working there too. I am pretty happy with it. I have heard wonderful things about Verizon too.

Thanks! Since I recently changed my plan, I'm stuck with AT&T for two years anyway, but I can still make changes... I may wait a few months and then change to the GSM. We'll see... that network has shared plans.

Plus, I wonder how much better/worse things will get when AT&T merges with Cingular...

I am wondering too what will be when Cingular takes over. For this reason, I only got a one year plan. It will either get better or worse
