Center Carat Size

I want to upgrade my center stone. I don't think that's selfish. I don't need to do it NOW, but we're definitely going to do it eventually. I love, love, love my setting but FH wants to give me a bigger center stone when he can afford it. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

i dont ever understand why someone would want a new or upgraded ering...Its the ring FH proposed with, why would you want to give that up? I also dont think carat size matters, imho the bigger the carat and the more the girl talks about it (carat size) i think she is stuck up and selfish....What does carat size matter...as long as the quality of the diamond i good and it sparkles then whats the point. Also, not everyone's ering has center stones...there are many different styles of rings out there, so someone may have a 1 carat ring of good quality diamond chips that looks amazing and someone may have a 3 carat center stone that isnt good quality...

i agree with alot of what youre saying but also dont think that anyone in that category should be stereotyped as stuck up or selfish. The selfish part i really dont understand bc he bought it not her, unless she demanded it. I didnt give dh any instructions, i wanted no part of it and gave him no hints. I said i wanted him to pick out whatever ring he liked and it will be fine with me. Frustrated him a bit but its what i wanted to do.

I NEVER tell anybody my carat size, thats my business, never post it on here, and the most ive told were 2 friends when they asked and even then I didnt really want to. I didnt even ask dh actually how many carats my ring was. We were on vacation when he proposed and then a little while after he came back he said to me 'you didnt even ask how many carats it is, dont you want to know' i said i guess if you want to tell me. So i didnt know until weeks after he proposed what it even was bc didnt think to ask. I didnt even know what the average carat was for e-rings or any of that info. I never cared, if you tell me now grades on color, quality and all that i have no idea what they even mean. Some girls tell me oh mine is z, c or whatever letters they say and i just say ok i have no idea what youre saying.

i dont think any of this matters in the end. ANd just bc someone has a bigger ring doesnt mean the guy spent more. I know a guy who got his wife a big diamond but his uncle owns a jewelry shop so got an awesome deal. My dh also got an awesome deal and someone with a smaller ring, her fh/dh might've spent more. So thats why ppl shouldn't compare just by size, it could be an heirloom of the family that he didnt spend a dime on.

i just looked at your ring in your album.. GIRLLLLL.. are you crazy?!?! your ring is beautiful! i would leave it as is and put the money towards something else.. but thats JHMO. everyone is different. im not going to share my Carat size bc i think these kinds of posts can go down the road to drama.. but you should feel very blessed with your ring!
