Centerpiece for a shower

Centerpiece for a shower

I have been helping my mom plan my shower and now we have to decide on something for centerpieces. I did Gerber daises for my e-party so I want to do something different. My shower is at the Milleridge Inn and the tables there hold 6-10 people and they are round so they are fairly large. Do you ladies have any good ideas that won't break the bank?

Are you looking for flowers or something even less expensive than flowers?
Also, what are the colors/theme of the shower? That would surely help us help you.

Hurricane with candles and rose petals is always a nice inexpensive touch. You can even put a mirror under it for some extra glitz and shine!

If you want flowers... what about a low square vase with some roses or lillies or blue bells or any flower really in it? You can get those cheap little glass beads and put them on the bottom for a punch of color. Or you can wrap the vase with ribbon to cover the stems of the flowers.

If you do the low square vase.. you can use scotch tape to tape a grid on the top so each square gets 2 flowers or so. This will hold the flowers up properly.

Many years ago... many many many many years ago... I worked in a florist.

I have been thinking about flowers or plants either work. My theme was supposed to be a butterfly theme but I haven't come up with anything with butterflies yet. So I guess now it's more of a spring theme. I want it to be a little colorful.

Wow that's a great idea. What is a grid and where do I get one? I would love to that ad I think roses would look really pretty.

definitely do small vases of flowers ( I agree, love the square ones!) Based on your theme you could do, if it applies, my personal favorite, candy!!! Did ito for my best friends shower and it was a HUGE hit!

I love peonies and they are out of season for my wedding maybe I can get them for my shower. They would look amazing and really full! Does anyone know if they are in season in March? My shower is March 14th.

Also, where do you guys think I can pick up cheap square vases?

Re: Centerpiece for a shower

Well hmm.. how do I explain this??

I have this square clear glass vase.. it's very low.. maybe 6 inches high... it's a perfect square. What I did was, I took regular scotch tape... and taped it from one side to the other. ... I'm at work.. so I'm going to take a box and show you and take a pic with my cell and send that to you. Ha ha ha...
But what it does is holds the flowers in place so they aren't falling all over the place. It's something florists do when they create CP's.

So you want lots of color huh? Do all sorts of different color flowers with clear beads or just 1 or 2 color beads on the bottom. You could even incorporate a butterfly on the flowers itself. I'm kinda thinking... something similiar to one of those butterfly hair clips (they have ones for flowers too) and just put one per CP on top of one flower.. so it looks like it jsut landed there. Actually now that I think of it.. you might even be able to use a hairclip one. They sell really pretty studded ones in China Town. THey have claw ones but there are also ones that just come on a stick (I think they are meant for a french twist or something).. but that would work PERFECTLY! And it woulnd't be too expensive... maybe like $2 a butterfly.

Ok I'm going to get to taping a box and posting a pic for you.

Peonies are only in season from late May to early July....for my e-party I went to the 1800Flowers warehouse on 107 in Bethpage (by Grumman). On Friday's they have flower sales and I got all of my flowers for $16 and that was enough for about 10 CP's. The selection is hit or miss though.

Ok... here is what I did with the box... so you would do this on the top of the vase.. and it will hold the flowers up right so they stay in place. Also you wont need as many flowers for a full look.

next I'll look up the butterfly hair peice.

Do you think I can use cabbage roses?

it's super easy! I just did one in less than a minute. You would of course measure the spacing a little better. And it will look professional.

I think buying the vases wholesale online would be cheaper than going to a store for them. That one sight sells them for $34 and you get 8 I think! that's a good deal! How many tables do you have?
