Central American/Mexico travel

Central American/Mexico travel

I'm travelling for 2 weeks in Chiapas, Mexico.

Then I'm meeting DH in Cancun for 2 more weeks of travel. We're considering flying direclty out of Cancun to Honduras or Belize, but are also considering travelling around the Yucatan.

We're interested in:
Diving
Beaches
Ruins
Natural beauty (rainforest, mangroves, turtles, etc)
Staying away from extremely touristed areas (such as Cancun)

Anyone who has any ideas, please send them my way!

We really enjoyed our time at Zihuatanejo... very authentic Mexico, not touristy at all.

You have to go to Belize--I went there for my honeymoon, and it was FABULOUS. And if you like diving--go to the Blue Hole--absolutely spectacular!! And if you plan to stay a few days, you have to visit the jungle--we stayed at Chaa Creek outside of San Ignacio, adn it was amazing!!

We are considering Belize, but we're wondering how much it would cost to get there from Cancun? Any ideas?

We spent a fortune on a 3 week honeymoon in Fiji last year, so we're trying to keep this a little less costly.

I have no idea, but send my Aunt an e-mail. She specializes in trips to Belize (Sea and Explore is the name of the agency), and she can defientley help you out way more than I can!

Thanks, maybe I'll e-mail her about flights from Cancun to Belize and or Honduras. We're independent in our travels, so we're definitely not interested in booking hotels in advance or a package deal, but maybe she can advise on airfare.

Ruinas de Copán
Islas de la Bahía (Roatan)
Castillo de Omoa
Beaches- Ceiba and Tela
also the Agua Termales

From the pictures my students have shown me, Honduras is amazing!! You will love it!
