Ceremony time...to lie or not to lie????

Original post by dancinmyazoff

My Ceremony starts at 2:30 and I want to make sure it starts at 2:30 sharp so we have enough time in between to not be rushed while at OWG.
Should I put a quarter past two as my ceremony time?

My RH actually told me to lie, LOL! I put 12:00pm on the invite, with a ceremony scheduled for 12:30pm (I got married at the hall).

They provided refreshments and whatnot for the guests that actually did arrive at 12:00pm, and I think everything was much more relaxed and ran smoother with the little extra cushion of time.

To be honest, I think it's unfair to some guests to lie about the time of your wedding. If I was invited to your wedding and it said 2:00...I would probably be there by 1:40, which means instead of waiting for 20 minutes I would wait almost and HOUR for you to walk down the aisle. This would make me a disgruntled guest!! For those people who are always late, they will be late whether you put 2 or 2:30..make sure you let them know you are walking down the aisle at 2:30 SHARP!!

Every single hall told me to lie about the start time.

Definately, can't hurt and that way everything will be ok. My friends priest was half an hour late to hers and it set the whole thing way back and they never caught up!

I just saw your post. Our banquet manager told us to put 12 noon on our invites for our 12:30pm ceremony.

I used to work in publishing.... this is called a 'dummy date' (or 'time') to give you a cushion for those who are perpetually late. That way everything will still be able to start on time.

Good luck!!!!!

P.S. --- I do this with my 3rd graders when I need an assignment on time! Give them a date 2-3 days before I really need the completed work!

you should put the start time as 2pm... that way there is an extra buffer of time for people just in case there is traffic.

hmmm this is a good idea.... wondering that it might be smart to lie since my ceremony is on a friday at 6:30 - ppl will leave work early but i want them to make it in time, and there is always rush hour traffic.... might have to do this!!

I am getting married at Lands End and They have a hospitality half hour.. So they suggest putting on your invitations a half our before the actual ceremony begins.. This way you know even if people are running late.. They will actually be getting to your ceremony on time!
