Most places do it right before. It's very common in Jewish weddings. But I can see how it can be hard if you aren't seeing FH before the ceremony. I was in a friend's wedding 3 years ago and she didn't see her husband before and we still did a rehearsal right before. Everything worked out fine :)

I'm kind of bummed about this part of things. I think 30 mins before the ceremony is valuable photography time, and I'd rather not spend it on a run through the ceremony.

For those of you having it at the same place I have three questions
1. Are you doing pictures before the ceremony (AKA seeing the groom before hand)?
2. Who supplies music to walk down the aisle---is that the DJ?
3. What must you provide for the ceremony?

Thanks,
Carly

1. We are not doing pictures before the cermony because we did not want to take away from seeing eachother for the first time when I walk down the aisle. Instead, we chose to give up our CH and do our pictures then. The element of suprise down the aisle was more important to us, it is totally a personal choice.

2. We have a string trio for the ceremony, if we chose not to do that it would have been up to our DJ to supply the music. In that case, it would have been a pre-recorded cd with ceremony music

3. We do not have to provide anything for the ceremony. They are providing everything including the flowers, which is awesome. The only thing we would have to provide would be extras, like programs etc.

1. We are seeing eachother before. We have 2hrs before the ceremony start to be at the hall and we could either get ready and do pics of just the girls and guys or we could use the time to take pics. We want to get the pics over with without stressing and actually enjoy some of the CH. I don't want to miss the food! And I also have a feeling we will prob get a few more pics after the ceremony.

2. Our DJ is doing the ceremony music. It is totally up to you who you want to do it. Ask your hall if they have a sound system in place. Otherwise you have to hire someone to do it. It was cheapest and easiest for us to have the DJ do it, and I don't think we are doing any traditional classical pieces so we don't really need musicians.

3. Yourselves, an officiant, a witness, the license, and the rings! Everything else depends on what you want. Ask if they have a table you can use, that also has a table cloth, if you want to do a unity candle or sand or whatever. Ask if they have a sound system for the officiant or ask if your officiant has one. If you have any religious traditions you will prob have to provide that stuff. Programs are optional but I like the idea so I will make them myself.

We're having our rehersal there 2 nights before.

Kristan, I just booked Smithtown Landing for my wedding too! How many people are you having there? I am a little bit nervous about the size.

1- We don't want to see each other prior to the ceremony. We are still getting there around 2 hours earlier. I will get all the BM pics done and me with the GM done and vise versa. Also me alone and what not. this way after the ceremony we will have to family pics together, bridal party together and us. We also extender our CH a half an hour so we will make sure we go to the last 30 min.

2. We are having the dj do the music for the ceremony.

3. We really dont have to provide anything if we just want to have basic ceremony. They actually decorate really nice with their own flowers which is pretty sweet!

1) We are doing pics beforehand. We really don't want to miss any of the party!

2) Our DJ is having a violinist for our ceremony,. She plays all the songs one would hear in a church.

3) Our hall is providing everything I think. Def. flowers are provided.

wedding starts at 7:30, and rehearsal is at 6pm that same day.

i might not go to the rehearsal though so that i can enjoy the moment of the doors opening and seeing the room for the first time.
