FH doesnt realize how much money this is going to cost us but we really want a calypso band for CH. Do you really think its worth it for an extra $900? Yeah, it will be a nice touch and I was really for it at first, but the more and more I think about it...it just seems like a lot of money for ONE hour of music. I know live music is expensive, but one hour?!?!?!?!?!? I dont know if its worth it. When you attend weddings, do you even notice the CH music? Most people are walking around, drinking, eating their hearts out....I dont even think it would be appreciated. Any ideas would be appreciated! TIA!

I know, I felt the same way....I REALLY wanted a harpist, but she ran over $600!!! I just couldn't get past that, so we are going to use our dj for ceremony and cocktail hour. If you feel like you really want to have that, maybe you can wait until your wedding is alittle closer and you can see where you stand with your budget. Maybe you will come alittle under and you can get the band! Whatever you choose, your wedding will still be fabulous, so don't fret!

we had a single violinist for our ceremony... we paid a little bit extra to have her play for the cocktail hour... honestly i think it was a bit of a waste... no one could really hear it since everyone was so busy talking and eating... i dont think it is necessary...

I actually play the violin for CH and I have to tell you it is a waste! No one pays attention to it and half the guests didn't even know I was there after the fact. There really is no need for music at the CH...JMO

is there a way you can cut that cost? we had a steel drummer for our coctail hour for $400 through our dj company. it was a splurge for us and we had a few guests talk to us about it. some asked for her business card. it was a nice touch, but i wouldnt have paid any more than we did for it.
