im sorry bluekat - im just having a mini semi nervous breakdown i dont know what to call it, its like a freak out but at the same time im like whatever because these are all things that we want and that we are (well I AM) excited for so as much as i wish we didnt spend this much i also am so happy with everything that we are doing - so i cant say im regretting it - or worried - im just SHOCKED....

and yelly i live on the south shore of staten island - the bloomingdale/woodrow area

I completely understand! I think I'm going to faint when we give JT our last payment. Sometimes I wish we would've opted for a longer engagement. It's just shocking how much things are when you attach the word 'wedding' to it. It's like the price goes up by 50%. It's a catch 22 we want all these things to make our day beautiful and personal...but at the same time it's like OMG .

oh god, giving the final payment to JT was the worst day its so sad to just give all that money.

luckily we have been paying them off in big chunks - well FH pays them so i guess it ***** for him to hand them a few thousand dollars every other month but at least its not like handing them 20K or something like that at the end - that would suck! i still dont know how he bought my e-ring - i HATE parting with a big stack of money all at once i guess because i am a money hoarder - i love saving money, just knowing its there, i love that feeling - i hate taking money out of my savings or giving large amounts of money all at once ugh when we have to give the downpayment for our house - oh god - they are going to have to fight me for it

i was paying JT about every 2 months and decent chunk well it was in our contract to pay every 2 months or 3 months $3500 the first few payments then $4500 every 2 months. YES a big chunk like that S*CKS at the end i just kept thinking i can run with this money right now especially since i was by myself when i paid it

Oh Nicole..they really are going to have to fight you for the downpayment $$..when I handed over the check for the downpayment when I bought my apt. I wanted to bite the person's hand take it back and run....LOL

We're paying every two months but also saving for it at the same time...and we'll have the final payment when the times comes but it's just going to be soo much $$ to hand over. I keep thinking...this is $$ I could save to add to the $$ I'm getting from the sale of my apt...so we could buy a house . I write the checks and send them and sometimes I just want to keep the $$.

BARF - i just calculated how much we paid for the wedding so far.....30K and we still have to finish paying off the RH and all of our vendors, plus we didnt book limos and a shuttle yet, FH didnt buy his tux yet, i still have to pay for my fittings - and this isnt including any of my accessories like shoes, DOJ, veil or headpiece - not including bridal party gifts, our wedding bands, there are so many things im not even thinking of right now that we still have to do PLUS what i know we still owe out - its scary!!! to be honest i dont even know where we came up with the 30k we already paid out - we paid out 30K in literally 1 year.....thats insane to me! do any of you guys go over the numbers and want to

FH and I were scared that we went WAY over. We recently tallied up........

Our budget was 25k, right now we are at 23,600 and that includes everything so far except what we are going to purchase to put in our OOT bags. But that includes tips and all. So I am super duper impressed with our strict budgeting for our 125 guest wedding.

dont worry about spending $$ on useless things like oot bags or expensive favors. seriously your guests wont even know the difference and but it'll make a nice difference in your pocket. i think when planning a wedding we get carried away with unnecessary things that just make us have to dish out more and more money. diy as much as you can and you'll save alot. we spent most of our $$ on vendors, mainly on photo and dj cuz that was most important to us. cuz i cut cost on other things i was able to get my expensive room lighting. you just have to really pick and choose what you want and whats necessary.

ITA. we said okay let's try to keep it under $25-30k, excluding the HM; and we figure we spent about $25k. and we pretty much made that all back. for me I didn't want the big crazy wedding - I wanted the awesome HM and I was willing to spend on that and we still had an awesome wedding but like Jen said I decided what i wanted to spend the most on (also photo) and went pretty budget on the rest.

I also agree don't drive yourself crazy on OOT or favors... i went nuts when looking for favors b/c Italians are so into them but in the end I did wine bottles that were like $3 a bottle and a HUGE hit. I didn't even bother with OOT bags. You can save money by eliminating little unnecessary things.

yeah - at first i wanted to do like a placecard christmas tree and give out really nice favors - but at this point i dont care anymore - i dont want to spend the extra money and i want to do it as cheap as possible....i dont want to add any more costs - i was going to get a diamond wedding band and i kept saying i didnt care about spending the money on that b/c i have it AFTER the wedding - but now im thinking maybe ill just get a plain metal one instead - im trying to think of things that we didnt book or get already that we can SAVE money on....its so crazy - one thing i have to say though is that its exciting, because the more and more we pay off it means that we are getting closer and closer to the actual day.....luckily we are saving on the HM - all we have to pay is airfare (which as $900 round trio fpr both of us not too bad) and spending money - FHs aunt is letting us use her timeshare in aruba - so thank god we got a break there!

FH and I thought NOT having the wedding at a RH would be cheaper. because we wouldnt be paying for all those extras they 'throw in'

little did we know that having a vineyard wedding and having to bring in EVERYTHING would cost us an arm and a leg.

but i wouldnt trade our venue for the world!
