Cha-Ching!

BARF - i just calculated how much we paid for the wedding so far.....30K and we still have to finish paying off the RH and all of our vendors, plus we didnt book limos and a shuttle yet, FH didnt buy his tux yet, i still have to pay for my fittings - and this isnt including any of my accessories like shoes, DOJ, veil or headpiece - not including bridal party gifts, our wedding bands, there are so many things im not even thinking of right now that we still have to do PLUS what i know we still owe out - its scary!!! to be honest i dont even know where we came up with the 30k we already paid out - we paid out 30K in literally 1 year.....thats insane to me! do any of you guys go over the numbers and want to

Oh gosh...it is sickening is it! But trust me it will all be worth it!

About 1-2 weeks before our wedding we kept saying we should have had a destination wedding because of the all the ridiculous money we were spending! THEN...bamm...the wedding day came and it was fabulous...I would not trade it for the world! It was worth every single penny. And DH said all along.....'you only do it once so do it right!' And 'there is always money to be made'

Oh and PS - the week before the wedding I spent like $1500...on lord knows what?!?!?! Hair color, hair cut, nails, this, that, I dont know how it happened but I was spending like crazy!!! Again...all worth it though!

Do you still owe alot to your RH? That was our biggest chunk...but it wasnt so bad in the grand scheme of things...I think we owed them $14K. (We had a lot or rsvp no's so we ended up spending less than we thought...yay!)

I def have moments where I . We only put about 1/2 that much out so far but we still owe out around 35,000. I would love to be one of those people who spend 30,000 on their wedding. How do they do it???

yea - whats funny is FSIL got married like 5 years ago at JT - she had a big wedding about 250-300 people and it probably cost her around 50K - and we were like thats crazy, there is no way we are paying 50K for a wedding, and when we got engaged we said we arent having a big wedding like they did - we want to save money, we'll get married on a friday to save money, we'll get married in winter, we'll invite less people blah blah blah - we figured 30K would do it - yeah OK - what the hell were we thinking to be honest i dont even know how much this circus is going to cost us - i know how much we owe as of now - but that number is still going to go up b/c we didnt do a lot of things yet - like weddings bands, the limos, the shuttle, plus this doesnt even include our HM expenses - now that we are looking at this house im getting a stomach ache thinking about how much we are spending for 1 day....we must be NUTS

Well maybe this will help.

The groom's tux is free, as long as 3 of the groomsmen rent their tuxes from the same place.

I bought my veil on ebay for $20 with shipping.

well we owe JT 5K - and we are planning to pay them off as of September 1st (that is if we dont go over our minimum)

then we owe for video, the DJ, the drummer, the rest of the string trio, the officiant, the balance to our florist, figure that is about 6K

then i got hair and make up - (i want to try and help pay for bridesmaids also), wedding bands, my fittings and anything that has to do with my dress/DOJ/shoes, ill guess thats another 6K right there

then we have to do limos/shuttle bus/favor

im thinking we got AT LEAST another 20K to go.....im hoping we can keep it under 60K

I totally hear you. Our original budget was $25k... well, needless to say that is what just our hall is costing us. It is far more than I ever imagined and I'm almost embarassed that I let it get so far out of control.

the good news is that we have just about the whole wedding saved for and we still have 2 more months to put money away.

i know! FH and I go over the budget and he's like ok tell me the total (cause i'm the one with the calculator) and i'm like WHICH total do you want to hear?

The total WITHOUT the honeymoon?
the total WITHOUT my dress/veil/beauty costs--hair nails etc
the total not including day of TIPS?
or the COMPLETE TOTAL?

FH is buying his tux and knowing him, it wont be cheap i told him if it costs more than my dress i'll kill him i understand why he wants to buy it though and he's going to have alterations so it fits perfect - hes going to look so handsome so i dont care

i def got to look into ebay for veils though!!!! thats a great way to save money....

i need cheap favors too i was thinking maybe if we do the bagel give away at the end of the night (JT does this) that can be our favor - i might try switching one of our upgrades to the bagels instead....or does the bagel not count as a good enough 'favor'?

see the thing is im not that worried about paying it all off - because if we managed to pay all this money already i know that we can manage to scrounge up the rest - plus we still have a lot in our savings in case of an emergency (but i would hate to use it) - but its just thinking that we could have had 30K more in our savings right now - WOW that makes me feel

I know. Joey and I think about that all the time. We see all the money sitting in our wedding account and we are like, wow... imagine if we didn't have to take that out... it's depressing.

I know it'll all be worth it, though.

PS, where in SI do you live? I have family there

i hate you right now

this is why i call the wedding a circus (i got that from belongstodanbuckley) b/c seriously i dont know what the hell happened, its almost embarrasing that it got this out of control, especially b/c we never planned on doing this - its not like we said, okay, we have a 75K budget - we NEVER said that, we NEVER wanted that and im afraid that if we add everything soup to nuts its going to be at that number and that makes me feel yucky
