changing or keeping last name?

Is everyone taking FH's last name or keeping there's or both?

I'm getting very sad about having to lose my last name since i'm the last one

FH will be soo disappointed if i dont take his so i'm thining about hypening it but i dunno. Also, all my degrees will be in my last name.

whats everyone doing?

its very easy to spell though, nobody ever knows how to spell Kuehne...

both are nice. and its still the same syllable.

i plan to change mine, even though i like it because it is easy, simple, 1 syllable. but FH's last name is very nice too!! the good thing (or the weird thing), is that my initials wont change.

actually FH and I have the same initials - JP :)

I WISH my intials didn't change. I <3 my intials lol.
At least our first initals will be my maiden initials.

(whoa.. thats weird) lol

ya im an only child, so that made me kinda sad about the last name, but its jus funny cuz i think of hyphenated names, then, do u hyphenate the kids names? and if u do, does ur daughter grow up and wanna hyphenate that when she gets married??? and then one day down the line of ur future descendants someone will be like Jane Has-Too-Many-Last-Names

i get worried


i had asked my mom about the kids names also, and she said the kids will have fh last name. so that made my mind up easier. i will have two last names and they will just have there fathers

I am changing my last name..mine is with a hyphen already..with my mom's maiden name and my dad's last name so I am cutting down..

Well my FH wants me to take his last name. However, I would like to do my last name-his last name. We'll see though.

i never really had a middle name growing up. so i might make my last name my middle name....and just use his last name. eh....im toying with the idea. im pretty sure ill get over it once im like 5+ years married.

There's a lot of drama behind this simple decision!!! Why can't anything be easy anymore?

I am who I am because of my parents and my upbringing. I want to honor them anyway I can.

Here's the prediciment:
FH has a perk in his contract for family education grants. I've always wanted to be Dr. Kimberly.......
but the change in pay is only $1200 a year, so totally not worth the effort and student loans. However, with this grant, I want to do it!!

Now the problem will be that my FFIL is not a nice man and will make an issue out of 'having a Dr. in the family' and my parents deserve that honor.

Am I out of my mind???

Okay I'm just throwing my last name out there so you can really get the full effect. It is Bologna, the city in Italy. However no one ever understands that (except when I was actually in Italy) and has referred to it as the coldcut since I was in kindergarten always mispronouncing. I have been tortured 'My bologna has a first name it's J-E-N-N-A' 'I bet I know what your favorite coldcut is!!' lol and cannot wait to change it to FH's which is so simple and easy to pronounce hahaha


totally feel your pain..... greek last names are pretty bad too..... let just say i used to be called 'Var-donuts' lololol still cracks me up..... FH's last name isnt easier either -- starts with 'Kt' and no, the t is NOT silent haha, too bad im not marrying a smith
