Changing your last name?

Hey....

I would like to know who is changing their maiden name to their husband's last name......and who is not!! What are your reasons for changing/not changing your name??

I was on the NYC City Clerk's website reading up on marriage licenses. From what I could understand, you have to choose what name you will have when your license is issued. If you want to change your last name, you have to remarry your husband!! Is this true?!?!?!

I'm going to change my name too, but only personally. I'm going to keep using my name professionally!

I'm excited to change my name and he is really happy that I am changing it. Plus his last name starts with an X so it will be very different!

I'm going to change my name too. I feel its very special and would want to have the last name as my children in the future.

i was excited to change my name and i wasnt.

my new last name kind of rhymes now with my first name.

it is a great feeling though when it is finally done! you feel like a new person!

Yes im changing it to his last name.. his last name is nice, simple, AMERICAN!!! Im used to having a pretty italian last name that noone can pronounce.. its gunna be weird when i DONT hvae to correct them.. but i DO love MY last name and will ALWAYS be a part of my ORIGINAL family!!!

I can't wait to change my last name. I think its just something that you do when you get married. You give the honor of bearing the last name of the man you love.

I am...I'm traditional like that. I once mentioned to FH as a joke that I wasn't going to, he got really offended. He's pretty old school like that too.

IM changing my last name, b/c its traditional but, and I have said this before I am tired of 'can I have your last name'........'no honey I said your LAST NAME' Thats why

I'm going to put FH name on our marriage license for my name, but for work purposes, I'll use my maiden name. Name recognition is important in what I do for a living, so I don't want to confuse people!

I am keeping my last name. I need to for professional reasons and I want to for personal reasons. My last name means a lot to me and his means nothing to him so I see no point in taking his. I am not a traditional person and felt that in this day and age there is no reason I should have to take his. I have no issues with other women changing theirs its just not for me.
