I would like to know who is changing their maiden name to their husband's last name......and who is not!! What are your reasons for changing/not changing your name??
I was on the NYC City Clerk's website reading up on marriage licenses. From what I could understand, you have to choose what name you will have when your license is issued. If you want to change your last name, you have to remarry your husband!! Is this true?!?!?!
I'm going to change my name too, but only personally. I'm going to keep using my name professionally!

I will be changing my last name, but at my job for professional reasons I'm keeping my maiden name...until I leave this company. I like the fact that I'm going from a last name that starts with an 'M' to a new one that starts with a 'B'... I'm moving up!
talk about moving up........I'm going from Z to J!! My sis did even better....Z to C!
But I have to admit, I'm considering hypenating...mainly b/c FH's last name is really really common (seriously its ranked like #2 in popularity in the US).....so I guess I'd just feel weird being one out of a million, whereas my last name now is so unique! Anyone with my maiden name is related to me (no joke!!)....I have such pride for my last name....I guess I'm more emotional about it too b/c my father has passed away, it makes me more attached to my last name!! I just hope FH understands if I do decide to hyphenate, b/c he's very traditional.
