Keeping mine...for career reasons more than personal...FH is the one that suggested I keep mine...people say 'oh you can change it legally but keep yours professionally.' but i might as well just have one name...I like my name :)

Re: Changing your last name?
I've been conflicted with this issue... I think I will legally change my name to his because I'll finally have the same name as him and our daughter! However, I loooove my name and wish he and the baby would take it on... Darn sexist traditions!

Re: Changing your last name?
I will be changing my last name, but at my job for professional reasons I'm keeping my maiden name...until I leave this company. I like the fact that I'm going from a last name that starts with an 'M' to a new one that starts with a 'B'... I'm moving up!

Re: Changing your last name?
I am hyphenating.
I really wanted to keep my name... but FH REALLY wants me to change it.
A few weeks ago I kind of thought I was going to just INSIST on keeping my name... but then we had a family discussion about nothing in particular and our names came up. The boys have my last name as part of their middle names and they know their full names. We were saying all our names and Noah asked why my last name wasn't the same. FH told him that after the wedding my name WILL be the same as theirs. They were jumping up and down and cheering.
How can I NOT change my name after THAT?

I am keeping my last name. I need to for professional reasons and I want to for personal reasons. My last name means a lot to me and his means nothing to him so I see no point in taking his. I am not a traditional person and felt that in this day and age there is no reason I should have to take his. I have no issues with other women changing theirs its just not for me.

Re: Changing your last name?
nope, I'm staying as is....
FH and I share the same profession... one where name recognition is everything. I was debating keeping my maiden name professionally and using his at home, but it's just so messy. I'd feel like I'm in an identity crisis. He finally convinced me that consistency is best, and I should just stay as is....
(To add to this mix, his name is REALLY difficult to pronounce, and mine is simple....)
