Charitable donation favors

FH and I were considering doing a donation instead of favors. I'm just not sure what our guests will think. I need some feedback, thanks ladies!

We did a donation. Not one person said anything negative about it to me. I actually got a lot of compliments about how they thought it was nicer than having another knickknack.

can someone list the charities that will give you scrolls of some sort to talk of the donation...
Also how do you do the actual donation by CC??

I actually was not into the idea and personally still am not. Although if I did I would do Lung cancer since my father passed away from that.

I just heard about 2 weddings that had that & as I told people they were like really 'wow' So I guess it's a good idea. i saw go for it.

I think things that are important to you or FH personally. We are doing the American Brain Tumor Foundation bc my father passed away this year from it. I think it's a great idea.. I know most favors I've received go in a drawer somewhere, or the garbage.. I'm gonna do a little cocoa favor with it as well....

We are looking into giving a donation to Breast Cancer. I just like the idea of the money going to something that can use it then just buying a favor that no one will use

i made a donation in my father's name to st. judes. i am also giving out chocolate truffles to each guest. they weren't expensive.

I havent received a favor at the last few weddings I have gone to and thought the idea was great. I'd much rather see the money go to a good cause.

FH just went on a volunteer trip with Engineers Without Borders to Uganda so I am going to do a favor that donates to that charity and specifically to the project he was helping on. I think I'm going to write up a little something so everyone knows why we picked that.

My sister did the american cancer society
She made little cards that said thank you and how they donated in their name

and also was able to get breast cancer pins and attached to each card for guests

I was looking into make a wish foundation and i last left off witht hem that they were going to get my star pins as part of my donation to put on the cards

FH wanted to kill me...i wanted to do all 3 for favors..the candy cart and then the mini pumpkin that is the place cards too
but fh decided just candy and pumpkins

We made a donation to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. We got a lot of compliments from our guests on how nice they felt it was. I don't think any guest will mind, just make sure you put something on your table or at the place settings to let them know you are doing this in lieu of a 'traditional' favor

I was thinking of doing the same thing as well. My thought is that favors are a waste of money and no one uses what you get so you might as well put to to good use and make a donation

Jewish weddings typically do not do favors ( I don't know why) but I am jewish FH is Catholic and his father passed from ALS so I thought it would be a nice way to have everyone honor his father at the wedding.

I will place a card on each plate letting people know in lieu of favors a donation has been made to the ALS foundation in loving memory of xxx xxxx.

How can anyone not appreciate that.

Also, for my shower I asked my sister that no favors be given instead to give the gift of life by donating to Breast Cancer research. My sister will make some type of pink cookie with a note about the donation.
