Chateau La Mer Recently

Hi,
I just booked Chateau La Mer for Feb 2005. While I heard some not so great things about the place under the old management, the new guys made us feel really comfortable and the food was great. I just wanted to know if anyone had been to a wedding there recently and if the new place was really all it seems to be. Also, anybody been there in the winter? What was it like (ie; water frozen? fountains on?)? Thanks!

Re: Chateau La Mer Recently

I live about amile from there but havent been there since hte new mgmt has taken over.
But I can say that unless its a really cold winter (and I mean really cold) the bad doesnt freeze. Although sometimes right behind CLM there is a tiny little inlet that will have a light layer of ice but nothing major. However, I dont think that the outdoor fountains run in the winter unless its unusually warm!

Good Luck!!!

Re: Chateau La Mer Recently

My sis got married there in june and the food was great. I haven't eaten at a wedding in about 4 years (usually don't feel well- nerves-don't ask) Anyway, you'd think being it was my sis's wedding I'd be too nervouse to eat. I ate TWO full dinners plus the salad. We missed the CH b/c of the photographer. First I had the fish (don't remember what is was). I wanted two choices. They said they offered seconds. When they came around for that, I had the steak- not prime rib- it was the Chateu Briand (sp).--- which they had for no extra charge. I've been to places where they offer seconds and walk around with the 3-4 'meat' choices. Here, they gave me a full plate of food, veges potatoes and meat. We were shocked. The food was soooooooooo good. It was beautiful too. If they have your date open and the location and price fit- def book it.
